MotorWeek Road Test: 2009 Dodge Durango HEMI Hybrid

I own a 2009 Aspen Hybrid, and have racked up 42,000 miles in less than 8 months. The only maintenance I have done is scheduled oil and tire rotations. And average 25MPG.

I consider myself a well informed car guy. I have never heard of this model....ever. I think the original Saturn vue hybrid was more popular and they sold a handful of those lol. This Durango aspen hybrid was canned after 2 months of production. 3000 units were pre ordered but actual production numbers are unknown

So odd seeing one of these new. You would think they were sold with mismatched doors, dead clear coat, and the most oxidized headlights ever seen on a road going vehicle.

We own a 08 4.7 Durango and love it so much. 62000 trouble free miles. Our Durango is not bad at all on gas so I don't see the advantage of the Hybrid.

These hybrid trucks should've all had the ability to be plugged in. I have no idea why they didn't bother even offering it before.

The Durango/Aspen Hybrid would totally trump the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade Hybrids if they put some lower body kit on and lost some weight.

I have to be honest, I never these existed, they must of not sold well that's why I never heard of or even knew there was a Hybrid version of them.

They were only on sale for two months before the plug was pulled. It's a safe bet that they didn't sell very well.

Francis P How do you figure? He said it was approx $4k more than a gas powered Durango...not including the $1800 tax credit.
