+matthew von As others have pointed out, there was only 70 miles of range left - the "state of charge" was to low to give full power. But still amazingly fast!

The reason why your 0-60 times were high was because you were testing it with low batteries. To get the advertised times you need to be close to fully charged. It's a battery thing and it's called SOC (state of charge). You were testing it with a low SOC.

motorweek doesn't launch. they use "real world" 0-60 times. most magazines & reviewers launch the car, which most people Won't do because after awhile you'll blow your transmission.

+9890jsp There is no transmission in the Model S. Sub 3 second 0-60 can be achieved by a 90 year old woman. The battery was low so the power was limited.

Typically a transmission includes multiple gear sets to keep the engine RPM in it's power-band. They also usually include clutches, torque converters, synchronizes etc. The Model S has none of those features. It's typically referred to as just a gearbox.

I say ill take longer ranger over faster speed any day, I already have over 100k in car debt now lets add another 100k and get me a 500 mile electric vehicle or at least whatever the average vehicle gets per tank of gas ( regular gas vehicles ).
