Good video , just a few suggestions. Remove the sproket/ carrier from the wheel before changing the tire , the wheel will be easier to work on and if you slip you won't rip your arm open on the sproket! Use dish soap to take the old tire off , makes it easier. Three tire spoons make the removal process easier , highly recommend wearing gloves for this operation!

I'm headed down to Dover,AR this weekend with my AT and a couple of buddies riding KTM. Just want to say how useful your wrenching and review videos are for a non-mechanical dual sport newbie like me. I've spent my life relying on dealer warranties and AAA to bail out my mechanical ineptness but it's not an option when you've got a flat tire on a sandbar of the buffalo river! I've downloaded your air filter change and tire change videos so you can help coach me the next time I'm in a crisis. Keep em coming and maybe we'll bump into each other on one of the dual sport events in MO or AR sometime soon.

Good video. I usually end up learning something from watching your tutorials. Having just done this job myself (same bike, same tires) I believe that the reason the rear went on so easy for you was that MotoZ sent you a 140/80x18 tube-type instead of the bike's officially recommended size of 150/70x18 (tubeless in MotoZ's line). I also put a 140/80 on mine as it is about a $100 cheaper and works well and noted how easy it was to get over the wheel and get the bead seated.

Thanks Frank. I am a huge fan of putting air in the tube before I put the tube in the tire. No pressure, just enough air to give the tube its shape. That way it will definitely sit correctly inside the tire. I find putting it in without air can (usually?) result in the tube twisting or overlapping itself or even getting pinched by the bead or tire iron. Give that a try next time you change a tube.
@WOODZMAN
@WOODZMAN 5 жыл бұрын
I have done that and it works, I usually don’t. I will put the tube in. But make sure it’s right and not twisted, then air it a little the let it take shape, then let the air out and air it a 2nd time.

Good job. It's easy after you've done a couple hundred, ha! Changed 'em all my life. Most difficult ever was a KLR650 rear for some reason??? Could not break the bead. Had to drive truck on it.
@WOODZMAN
@WOODZMAN 7 жыл бұрын
+richmoto1 tubeless tires are usually harder because they actually have a small bead that helps the tire from popping off on low pressure. Tube type don't have the small bead because they have the tube to hold them on and that is why tube type is better for Off Road and low tire pressure .

@@WOODZMAN I have watched many vedios about cars and motorcycles. And everyone says that the dot is weight and this weight should meet the weight of valve stem instead of the weight being distributed, please tell me what the person from Moto Z told you . Thanks 😊
@WOODZMAN
@WOODZMAN 2 жыл бұрын
Yea and I have heard the same thing also. He just said the dot is not for aligning up with the vale stem, I didn’t ask what it was for. I really don’t se how aligning it up with the valve stem would do anything anyway.
@Nightboat
@Nightboat 2 жыл бұрын
@@WOODZMANI can't understand why MotoZ would tell you that. A painted balance dot, or dots are definitely placed purposefully by the manufacturer. Since the tires are pre-balanced by the manufacturer they put a mark on the lightest section of the tire indicating where the valve stem should line up.

Question: Isn't there a mark (maybe a little round dot) that you line up with the valve stem or something that designates the heavy side of the tire?

Have you considered rim locks??? I'm surprised that you haven't sheared a valve stem. Thx
@WOODZMAN

Rim locks are needed when riding a lot of off road where you have your tires set to low air pressure. I do ride some off road but not extreme enough to need them

How hard it to remove the front wheel? I notice you left that out of the video. I ordered a set of e0-7's for my AT and all the shops around me want $150+ to install the new tires!! Time to learn to do it myself!

Dying to hear how you like these. I pick my AT up next Saturday and I had the dealer install these tires for me. I used your sizes and have been curious, why not go with stock rear tire size? Why did you choose narrower and taller? I got the same size cause you did but wondering why.
@WOODZMAN
@WOODZMAN 7 жыл бұрын
+Osterbinds It says that size but it is really closer than you think. It is what MotoZ recommended for the AT. Thanks for watching !

I have the 150 rear and could for the life of me not get it on the rim. Friends over to help, nope. Baja tool employed and still no joy. Granted it was spring and the tire was cold. Tried to heat it with a heat cannon, still nothing. Brought the tire and rim to the dealer and picked it up the next day. They said it was a b'tch to get on for them too.....
@WOODZMAN
@WOODZMAN 7 жыл бұрын
+Helixx I have had some tough ones before. Usually the problem is the the first part on the tire bead that you start in the rim is not in the low part of the center of the rim and if it is not, it will not go on. Glad you got it on.

Lol, me too. 2200 miles thus far. 50/50 on/off road and still going strong. I have a TKC 80 on the front. Wet on-road traction of the TKC is definitely better then the rear MotoZ. She can be slippery but it is hard to argue with her longevity and off-road performance. What pressure do you run the rear at? I currently have her at 35 rear and 29 front. I might soften the rear a little to get better traction especially on-road in wet conditions. Off road she seems to doing just fine.

If you have the center stand you can tilt the bike back and put something under the front of the bike to hold it up. Unless you find something heavy to weight the rear rack.

The dot marks the lightest part of the tire, if you line it up with the valve stem you may save some balanceweights. No big deal if you dont.

+ADVRX I chose them because I had good results out of the Tractionators on my CRF250L. I like them a lot Off Road. On road that make a lot of noise after you get some miles on them and the front tire cups pretty bad. I think the next set will be the MotoZ GPS
@advrx1041
@advrx1041 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate your input. I found your other videos shortly after posting the question. I am interested in trying the GPS from MOTOZ but I am leary. I listened to the advise from Ryan at fortnine and replaced my tires with the shinko e805's and I think they are horrible. They buzz and the front tire (Its the second one the first was warrantied) shakes the front end so badly at 35mph it feels like I have a flat spot in the rim or an extremely stiff spot in the side wall. The only thing I have been able to do to minimize the problem is run high tire pressure. 52 psi to be specific. I believe it is an overlap in the bands causing the side wall to be stiff. We have a ton of trails here lots of places to explore. But I ride every day. It has to be tolerable on the street. I guess I'll let you know soon what I think, I am torn between the Metzler Karoo 3 and the Motoz gps. HDS is running the GPS's right?

The sprocket is not cush drive? Seriously? I would have bet that sprocket would just lift off the hub...no? Also hard to believe Honda did not provide tubeless style rims....like on Suzuki V Strom spoked wheel version ...a center rib on rim that hooks the spokes so they don't have to pass through the rim...or the BMW system where the spokes are on the outside of the bead
