Hey mike, amazing podcast. Thank you so much for your service, both in the military and in providing these episodes. 2 ideas for guests that I think would be great: 1) Someone from federal law enforcement (DEA, Marshals, etc). There is very little information out there on federal LE, far less than the military. It would be great to honor their service and also to give people aspiring to that sort of career something to look towards. 2) On the Shawn Ryan show, you mentioned that on your deployment in the invasion of Iraq, your platoon took a regular Navy guy who volunteered when someone quit and who went to the teams after that deployment. I think you said he’s still in but it would be amazing to have him on. These are just a couple ideas. Thanks again!

Mike, I really dig how these conversations start with a touch of (deserved) bravado and stories of either great pride or a touch of counter-culture. This interview profiles humility as, I think, most in that profession have. I like the story about the dog. My dog is getting older but still defends the entire family from anything he sees as threat and with no formal training. Medics and Great Dogs are Blessing to us all. Stay Proud and moving Forward.

One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. I still have so many questions I wanna ask him. Even tho I wasn’t in the military I can definitely relate to the struggles of finding a job after college. Even entry level jobs you’d think you would be hired right away at, like being a bar back in case, if you don’t have experience it doesn’t matter what your resume says. I’m definitely gonna listen to this again. I feel like I can relate to this guy on so many levels from the traveling to stopping college 3 classes shy, to the writing. You’ve definitely given me some hope moving forward.

Leo seems to be an interesting guy. On one hand I envy his experiences traveling, on the other hand, however, I find the ways in which he traveled -- the lack of funds and the rough accommodations -- to be entirely unappealing. I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic for one of America's largest cities, so the medic stories (and Leo's fire dept. legacy) were fascinating to me... I'll definitely check out the books. What facts do you have that say its lies?
@AmorFatiMementoMori3 жыл бұрын
@@jadenking4268 the real video of the operation is on line graphic and all gruesome, you can even hear Murphy screaming for Marcus to help, the firefight involved 7 Taliban only maybe 10 not 30-50 +. Marcus even admitted before he threw his gun down and didn’t fight while hearing Murphy scream for his help. Just google search all the lies involved and how even many marines & rangers dispute the After action report. Also the real Video & explanation on how bad the Op was is on Reddit & on KZbin of people who have actual experience & were there disputing the lone survivor movie & Marcus’s bullshit story he made up. This isn’t the first time in that year frame the Navy has lied & given people who didn’t deserve prestigious medals said medals. Look up the John Chapman story and how the Navy tried to cover up what they did by leaving him behind & trying to block both of his Medal of Honors.
@BostonsF1nest3 жыл бұрын
@@AmorFatiMementoMori I’ve also heard that there were only a handful of enemy fighters and not the hundreds or so ppl believe there to be. Even so, when the enemy has you that pinned down and out maneuvered, it’s tough to really go back and recall exact details or facts that otherwise would have been enhanced, maybe not intentionally, because of your adrenaline and fight for survival at that time, so I don’t really fault Marcus for that. As far as him not helping his guys out, I’m sure Marcus did all he could in that situation while also trying to protect himself. Only he really knows what happens. I think there’s a large majority of veterans out there who are either jealous or resentful towards him because that story got so much publicity. Who knows they could be right, or not. We’ll never really know the full story. It’s a tragedy what happened anyways. All we can now is remember and commemorate the lost.
@AmorFatiMementoMori3 жыл бұрын
@@BostonsF1nest nah bro he straight up lied that’s why people are pissed, he was also arrogant along with them not wanting to accept help from the Marines who were very accustomed to that valley & who had many gunfights upon that valley, they even ignored the Marines advice on bringing better communication and the reason people are angry is because when the rangers came to save him he told them “I can’t believe I’m being saved by a bunch of fucking Rangers”, he also fucked over Gulab The man who saved him, there are many photos online & reports of him faking & lying about his injuries. Gulab even stated Marcus had 11 full magazines when Gulab saved him which points to him not helping his team at all. There is an interview of Marcus literally stating from the start he put his gun down and covered his ears because he couldn’t stand hearing Murphy scream his name for help all while knowing his friend was being massacred. He only tried to protect himself, he wasn’t ready to die on that hill with his friends & there are many reports, & his own testimony that he didn’t do anything but cower away. I feel bad for him but his lies are the reason why he deserves to be exposed. If you want me to send you all the credible evidence I can on how much of a fraud he is & that movie is. Even John McPhee a CAG ( delta force ) Sniper, Sergeant Major stated the movie was complete bullshit & lies along with American Sniper. The full story is online like I stated along with the real graphic video of what really happened. The reason this got exposed is also because an Actual Battle hardened Ranger was there and was the one who was insulted by Marcus’s words & lack of appreciation for them saving him.
