Originally slated to challenge Kendal Morris, Ernest Robinson still aims to give his professional MMA career a proper kickstart at Fight For It XIV.
For Robinson, the pro turn is a fresh start, coming off a three-fight skid that marked the last bouts of his 5-6 amateur career between 2018 and 2020. Indeed, Robinson hasn’t fought under the bright lights since that 2020 split-decision loss to Spencer Deegan at KOTC: Fists N Fury. One should assume he’s been doing his share of woodshedding since then, sharpening his tools for a big comeback in his first outing as a pro.
Arriving with the benefit of a full training camp, Robinson will be staring down the last-minute volunteer Josh Motsinger, who will be making his pro debut at the end of a 4-1 amateur run. An accomplished wrestler, student of Hayastan MMA and coach at Carolina Combat Sports, Motsinger has a proven track record against tough opposition - including victories over Fight For It alums BillyJack Cupp and Georges Kopa. But with a tight timeline to prepare for this bout, he’ll be facing a steep challenge against the prepared and hungry Robinson.
As these men step into the cage for the first time as professionals, all slates are wiped clean. The amateur records offer an indication of where they’ve been, but at Fight For It XIV, Ernest Robinson has every intention of showing us where he’s headed.
