That wash is so strange. I don't have one yet but I rewatched a bunch of other reviews and yours is the only one that comes with that half body wash. All the others doesn't have a wash at all.

Do you have any suggestions to maintain the rubber cover so that its doesn't break?

I’d say never leave the legs in anything but a standing pose and watch the humidity if he’s in a basement (I use a dehumidifier).
