yeah just got out.Five nights four days ...............three pig hunters and 3 dogs first day and Opitiki choppers over four times, second day jet boats up and down the river and choppers back and forward from above, third day White No rear rotor helicopters six am on river bed 50 mtrs from camp for 20mins and then mid day another jet boat (all noise and no go), 3.00 pm No rotor back for a good 40 - 50 mins 8 shots fired in slips all round camp (radius 150 - 400 mtrs) Hovered over the hut about 50 mtrs above just to rub the salt into the wound. Found old skary 6 carcass up in the middle of the Huaero, haha been drinking the water heading up stream all morning. No fault of Boat operators just a very busy place. Also no trout in the water around hut fished out and occassional possum to shoot. So if you are looking for a good peace full place to hut during peak season periods this aint it. oh also be aware to appreciate the real opertunaty for hunting have some fitness because the river flats and ajoining terraces are very limited and can be hunted by one person easyly in a day with smoko and lunch breaks and late start aye fella's. Motu country is steep as is Wiaoeka. So come on hunters lets lobby Tuhoe and DOC asking them top open the Te Urewera's for heli access during roar season to ease the pressure. As Mark would say the lines are to wide apart close them up then you'll see the true steepness. Been there done that glad I did ! but by fuck my body doesn't ! Oh bye the the way it rained every day just to make climbing that bit harder for traction. Sorry for the spirl guys but tell it how it is ...........maybe alcohol is the answer? (this is from a recovering alcoholic/ drug. addict) ps I'd put up a vid but you all seen the jet boat ride and one poaching chopper is like another " just a cunt"

Epic video mate, I remember heading up to that hut with nevil in a drought, hair raising ride back down the river with no water in it that's for sure. Awsome country very steep, ps was the statue still standing at the entrance of the walkway to the hut? I found that amongst some fallen branches in the river bed years ago. Keep em comming

haha truth hit home ............how your last trip go drink all that alcohol or do some real hunting and get any animals? lol we just been for another hunt and scored big time. Heading Kaimanawa's June should be easier country and hopefullly Sika be down low. Spring in there will be ok for the first ones up. Helicopter was Woods poaching with that AC/DC chopper Rudd
