I just used these pads for the first time on Sat and what a huge upgrade from some non-racing pads that I was using. I also made a video, but won't be out for a couple weeks! Good stuff fellas!

Awesome Jon, glad to hear you liked them! I saw your post on IG that you went running, did the car perform well for you? Apparently you noticed a difference in braking power haha. Like you, I too used the Advanced auto off the shelf whatever pads the first time I tracked the car, so the stopping power should be pretty noticeably better. We'll be looking for your video too!

Refine Movement It was night and day difference! I used to have to run a solid lap before I could feel the bite and these have it all the time. I also swapped to some Centric Cryo-treated blank rotors at the same time so that may have also attributed to the additional feel but it's excellent! I can't even imagine how a track only pad set must feel!

Wow Jon, sounds great man. I'm sure using a new, purpose built rotor with the pads does help for sure, that would be my next step as well. I noticed a difference even using the same rotors so it's safe to say these pads are just better than the off the shelf stuff haha. Yeah, a track only pad with a proper rotor like you have must be pretty gnarly. Gotta make sure to have tires that'll keep up with that kind of performance. But we'll both see when we get there huh

Thanks a lot man! I like doing the step by steps. And yeah I know a lot of people know how to do these things but there's a good portion of our audience who is learning, just like me. Glad to hear you have those brake pads and that you like them too! I'm looking forward to using them on track in a few weeks. And stay tuned for the next video, I've already recorded it, you may have a mention in there...lol -Robbie

For sure man! These rotors are in good condition still, nice and straight and plenty of meat so I wanted to use them for this next track day. But some new rotors that are built for more abuse and handling heat are on my list!

I have my own 1 man way to bleed the brakes. I run clear tubing to all 4 bleeders and the route all 4 tubes to the brake MC. I use a zip tie to hold them together. Top off the fluid and then hop in car and with all 4 bleeders open I just sit and pump a lot. You will see bubbles in the tubing cuz it's clear and since it recirculates back to the MC, gravity will bleed the bubbles out when reaching the top as it dumps back into the MC. Then just tighten the bleeder screws and good to go. I hope you can picture this in your mind. Pretty easy process. The hose costs about $6 total. Find it at Lowe's. Just basic clear tubing 3/16" I think

That's pretty inventive there man. I can picture what you are describing. Seems like it's a quick way to get it done anyway.

well that works to change fluid for the same fluid, what if you want to change old fluid for something better, youre contaminating the new fluid you put in the MC, are you not? But to get rid of trapped air, yeah that will work, and much easier then checking your progress on every caliper

Did you buy the car already upgraded to rear disk brakes?
@RefineMovement
@RefineMovement 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, when I bought it the car already had the rear disc conversion done. Saved me a good amount of time and some money.

Yeah. That'll be next time. These rotors are straight and have plenty of meat to them still. Fine for another track day anyway. Next time I need to get new pads rotors will be coming too

i never seen that done before that looks really easy im going to have to get a car soon and my dl and did you learn to drive in a stick or automatic ive driven automatic before but never stick what would you recommend
@RefineMovement
@RefineMovement 7 жыл бұрын
My first car was automatic Zachary. The red ek was my first car with the manual transmission. It all depends on what you want out of your car man. Some people think shifting is a pain, or maybe you'll be sitting in traffic a lot and don't wanna push the clutch in all the time. I dunno, for me, I am not bothered by these things. I love the control you have over the drivetrain with a manual trans, so I'd pick that all day everyday, but you just gotta decide what's best for you man! Try both since you're new to it.

Depends on how many times you’re going to need to press the brake pedal to get all the air bubbles out. I have always been safe with 2 bottles

I got them for about $150 front and tears together. Small expense for the performance gained from what I can tell so far. I'll be posting what I think of them after the track too so look out for that
