I have been watching more of your superb series of videos, and one of the things that I enjoy the most about your layout is that you create stunning scenery that just happens to have a railway running through it.....just like in full size; thanks for sharing all your hard work with us all, greatly appreciated.

Love it. All traditional modelling...just how it used to be before photographic backscenes and Modroc!!! Reminds me of my first serious layout some xx years ago when I used high quality sieved budgie grit for ballast held in place with wall paper paste :-) This extension is looking very good Mr Raspberry. At this rate you are going to have to build an exhibition layout. I ended up doing one !!! Cheers, Bob

What ever works I guess Bob! I’d love to have a crack at some point, I should get myself down to a club at some point as well as I’m sure I could learn a thing or two. Thanks as always mate.
@trainmanbob6 жыл бұрын
@@MouldyRaspberry I have done clubs in the past but they are just not for me. I found them far too entrenched in themselves and suggestions from new members were never gladly received. There probably are some very good clubs out there but I prefer doing my own thing with a few friends round for running sessions, tea and bisquits 😃

As someone who now uses photo backgrounds it's nice to see a hand painted backscene. Too many layouts now all feature the same hills or buildings behind them. I do try to manipulate the photo backscenes to make them appear different but doing your own is clearly the only way to make a unique background. Very impressed mate.
@MouldyRaspberry6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much James, always appreciate your comments. I agree, I’ve used photographic backscenes elsewhere and they look the part but a lot of layouts do look very similar....

Watching you paint that backscene was brilliant. I love how it starts and becomes that masterpiece that you have shown. Great job! Something I should try but freehand painting like that is not my strongpoint and always looks terrible when I do the simplest thing. Layout is coming along well. Loving the scenery. Clint
@MouldyRaspberry6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Clint, appreciate the comments!! It’s not my strongpoint either and I’ve fluffed a few attempts, but I think I’m slowly getting a bit better. Luckily there are a few good KZbin tutorials on it. All the best mate.

@@MouldyRaspberry Live Interchange? Seriously- one question- I have been wondering, did you decide you didn't like the brick station at Pondon or was it a placeholder that you always intended to replace eventually? Also, very nice backdrops (backscenes?) . They blend beautifully with the scenery. Love the idyllic countryside.

Although I’ve watched your videos with great interest, especially the scenic views. Which I find excellent considering how you start with polystyrene and the old faithful papier-mâché. But what I find most interesting is the fact that most of your layout, in my eyes anyway appears to be mainly single track running. Is this correct, and if so could you please advise the thinking of it. Most layouts you tend to see are double track or more tail chasing layouts. Iam fascinated by your latest layout. Many thanks, Frank Hughes.
@MouldyRaspberry2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frank - yes it’s single track. I went for that for a couple of reasons: 1 - cost. I started this when I was at Uni and wanted to save money. 2 - I grew up watching steam trains running on heritage railways which are mainly single track, so I guess wanted to recreate what I often saw and have always liked branch lines.
