American Kestrels are one of the only species of raptors that you can tell by their coloring if they are a boy or a girl. They are one of the many birds that call Mount Airy home. As a part of the Town's year long celebration of avian awareness, Town staff headed to Carroll County Recreation and Parks Hashawha Environmental Center and Bear Branch Nature Center in Westminster to learn more about this fascinating raptor including how the bob their tail for balance, how they triangulate to determine distance and what they eat.
