Mount Baker - Coleman Headwall

Video of our climb of Mount Baker and ski descent via the Coleman Headwall route. We completed this climb 3/29/24-3/30/24. We struggled to get video footage due to the wind and cold, but I have attached a brief route description at the end of the video if anyone is interested in sending this one.

Gonna be awesome to always be able to look at mt baker and know you've been up there. You can see it from so many different parts of washington. I was hiking down near olympia and could see it way in the distance.

I've ridden baker many many times, but never done true Backcountry there (or anywhere for that matter.).. my goal is to hit the hemispheres next year. Great vid.

Good Stuff and thanks for posting! New sub. Hoping to hit the top Baker and Shuksan third week of July. I'm from PA and do some ice climbing in NH but have never really been on a glacier. Guess that's about to change!

Cool trip! But check your slope calcs, 70 degrees is basically a cliff :-)

I don't think so. In hindsight, we could have climbed the route bottom up but at the time I think taking the standard route was the right decision.

@@Eeelipclimbs seems like a good call to me, it's a bit of a trade-off between minimizing overhead avy risk during the climb and taking the risk of not knowing the conditions before skiing it. I'd probably do the same thing. Curious if you used the rope - I see it come out of your bag at one point but not in use. Thanks for the video, I'm now much more hyped to splitboard Baker :)

@@gabelyon1071 No, once we decided not to climb the route we left our rope/gear at camp. One more thing I'd do different next time: bring a tent! haha
