Tucked away deep in The Appalachian Mountains, lies the highest peak in the Canadian Maritime Provinces, Mount Carleton, at 820m (2690ft).
Surrounding this mountain and a few others in the area is a one of my favourite provincial parks. It's hours away from any major city, making it a great place to escape to and spend a few nights camping, hiking, stargazing, canoeing, fishing, etc.
It is a hikers paradise with 11 different hiking trails throughout the mountains and along the lakes, for various skill levels, ranging from 1km-7km and 15min to 5h. If spending the day on the water is more your thing, there are 5 lakes to explore.
