That was a great ride Zack. Thanks to you, Vic and Sam for showing the way to disappointment!

I continue to be amazed how much good gravel riding there is in greater LA. Even though I lived down there long ago, it never occurred to me. Sounds like a roadtip is needed.

You almost rode by my house! I'm just a few blocks from the bottom of Chaney Tr.
This video touches on two of my favorite memories of when I lived in LA: I recall riding my road bike up Chaney and Mt Lowe in 2011-2012. Took the road back down to San Gabriel (23-25mm tires) before riding back to DTLA. Really wished I had a gravel bike back then. The only time I went to Mt Disappointment was in April 2012 the day it snowed up there. Parked at Redbox in the early afternoon when everyone was already on their way out. My puppy had a grand time playing in the snow.

Wow. I think Mt Lowe was in better shape a decade ago, but still quite a feat!

Well done! That is one stout effort. It truly is fun showing others a ride for their first time (so they then understand why you went on and on about it). Sharing that gravel love!

I guess I used to live just below Altadena Dr. a few blocks from start of Chainy Trail...50 + years ago! I barely remember Eaton Canyon and Henniger Flats,... hiking , no mtb or gravel bikes back then.

Coincidentally, did this on Sat the 6, starting from the Rose Bowl, and found it exhausting and overwhelming. (I am new to gravel riding.). The rocky sections were iffy I thought, and I walked/pushed a fair amount of it.

Oh yeah. Not a beginner ride. I first did it with cyclocross gearing and the wrong tires and that was a mess.
