People are people anywhere. Nation states are social constructs that keeps us apart, same as language and cultural differences. Once you truly understand this you will realize people don't need ambassadors, especially not from fascistoid dictatorships. I get what you mean though. Many people have prejudices for political reasons.

So interesting, I wish I could speak Russian, I live in Alaska, there is some Russia people here but they keep to themselves, I don’t know, one of the best books I ever read was about a guy named Ed Vistures. He climbed the worlds 14 tallest mountains becoming only the 6th person to do so, this was in the nineties. It’s always interesting to see another persons view of things from somewhere else in the world. I hope I get to travel in Russia someday Eli. This is a good video. I was recommended to it from another channel, I hope you get success on KZbin. You do speak good English, I almost can’t speak myself some days and I was born in it. So. Thank you.

This is your best vlog by far a true TV documentary material. You spoke like a true mountain climber with wiseness and cautiousness. Most mountain climbers champions will tell you this never try to be reckless. Hats off also to The Climbing Brothers guides they took the right decision and I look forward using their services in a near future. Bravo and thank you.

Wow, I feel embarrassed that I honestly didn't know of Mt. Elbrus! It looks so inspiring. I can imagine it is frustrating if you were looking forward to something and preparing so much and then, when you are almost on the finish line, it doesn't happen. In Austria a bad incident happened where a group travelled there to climb a famous montain, and on the morning of the ascent they met another group that had a guide and he said: we are going back down, don't go today, the weather is going to turn sour. They thought the sky didn't look that bad and that they would notice early enough if something changed and just go back, so they proceeded, but the guide who said it was a local and they were tourists, misjudging how quick the weather can go in the mountains. None of them came back, they were all struck by lightning. Such accidents happen very frequently. Also a group of 10 people went on a hike during summer and got caught up in an icestorm higher up. None of them had brought alpine equipment for this day, they were just thinking day trip in summer, they all froze to death. Usually, people who are not from an area should listen to whatever the locals recommend and treat any mountain with respect, even if it is not a 4000 or 5000 metre high one.

Wow, such a beautifully done video! It reminded me of my mountaineering trips to south America a few years ago, I kinda miss the harsh mountain life now (although I was staying in a tent eheh)! Too bad you got bad weather, the mountain is always the one deciding if you can climb it or not, and at least the whole team made the good call! Also I didn't know mountains in the caucasus were so high and beautiful, I hope to go there one day now!
