Mount Etna eruption: Explosions of lava from new active crater puts on spectacular show

Hear the explosive sounds of Mount Etna's volcano eruption as its 'Voragine' crater, dormant for four years, became active again -- sending lava shreds out from its new cone.
At around 3000 metres of altitude, the volcano in Italy showed off a spectacle of its unusual Strombolian activity with a majestic 'cascade' of lava with magma flowing inside the new crater, called 'Bocca Nuova'.
Incredible aerial video captured close-ups of the natural spectacle from day to night.

Okay, I get it, volcanic eruptions are spectacular, but it's not cool, not entertainment. This part of Sicily is densely populated. Catania (300,000 inhabitants), lies at its feet, and countless villages stretch up its slopes. A major eruption of Etna will lead to massive casualties.

I don’t know pretty sure, if eruption at this point are not finished in tragedy. We have to respect Nature, and people are living literally under his feet. My grandparents came from there, I was travelling last year there and it’s beautiful city. Hope eve it’s safe.🇦🇷🇮🇹🇨🇦

Eruptions are objectively cool and you can watch them for entertainment. If that volcano decided to go catastrophic you might as well watch from a safe place that won't be in the way of rescue or evacuation. Learn a valuable lesson on the raw power of the earth.

I believe etna is one of the 5 super volcano vents in the word. Yellow Stone is one in the USA another is kilawela in Hawaii. Am I correct ? I need a geologist out there to help me out.

You are wrong, Etna is not a supervolcano, it is actually harmless, there are worse volcanoes in Italy, like Vesuvio and Campi flegrei that is considered a supervolcano and is very active, from the beginning of this year to now, the ground of that area has risen up to 7 cm causing several earthquakes

Campi Flegrei , near Neaples, is a supervolcano, like Yellowstone. Potencially very very dangerous. This volcano , like Yellowstone doesn't have a cone tipical shape.
