The issue: Garmin Virb uses an embedded IE (Internet explorer) browser to show the maps. IE is a really outdated browser (even before 2018).
Google maps uses new javascript resources that IE does not support anymore, and this is why it stopped working. The IE browser will be deactivated by Microsoft.
The solution: - Open Registry Editor or Win + R shortcut then type regedit
- Locate the following folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
- Create a new entry (Dword 32 bits) with the name VirbEdit.exe (CASE SENSITIVE !!!)
- Change the value of the new entry to 00002ee1
