Mount Grace Priory is a historic and well-preserved Carthusian monastery located near the village of Osmotherley in North Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1398 by Thomas Holland, the 1st Duke of Surrey, the priory is renowned for its unique and rare layout, characteristic of the Carthusian order.
Unlike traditional monastic structures, Mount Grace consists of a series of small, individually enclosed cells, each with its own garden, providing a contemplative and solitary lifestyle for the monks.
The priory's buildings, although partially in ruins, showcase a remarkable example of medieval architecture. Visitors can explore the reconstructed monk's cell, experience the tranquil atmosphere of the gardens, and marvel at the well-preserved Chapter House.

Hi Alessa & Brett! What struck me at first was the beauty of the lovely golden-coloured stone. The monks were fortunate to have their own private cell, especially as it was actually a comfortable spacious room. It must have been incredibly difficult to keep a vow of silence. What a lonely life. The courtyard garden was very attractive. It must have been a lovely sheltered spot to work. I'm guessing they wouldn't have been allowed to sit and relax there? As you said, this was a real hidden gem. As always, your drone footage was incredible. Thanks for the brilliant tour! ❤❤

How did we not know of this place we love Osmotherly?? Love the monks cells are more like Airbnb than a cell and the gardens must have been lovely! What a lovely place to visit...I enjoyed learning about how these monks lived in solitary and seeing the not so small rooms, although sparsely decorated, I expected a 4x4...life couldn't have been easy, but that was a life chosen! That overhead view was awesome and there you were on top of the clouds...beautiful commentary Alessa and great drone view ending...

Hello Alessa and Brett, we just got back in time, wev'e been flying , first time in ages. A lovely Priory and its ruins, set in such a lovely area. The rooms inside were so cosy. Hi Alessa It is marbulous location to PPL who enjoy their solitary life. Attach to nature more likely than being in society. I would not judge which is better life. A person has right to make a decision for it. I cannot imagine myself in a solitary, but just being here through your lens flatter my eyes. Peaceful, mindful, life within nature... The ruin seems taking care of...I see their footage/daily life picturing in my head... Very thought ful music pairing this footage makes it so ordinary, but so special w]Well done, Alessa and Brett. We enjoyed seeing the Priory and hearing about the lives they lived. Not for me, but they at least they had some of the comforts of the times. Still, I believe you mentioned 15 monks would live in one cell? Wouldn't have been a lot of room. But, it would be quiet! We enjoyed seeing what remains, Alessa and Brett.
