Mount of Beatitudes | הר האושר

Israel video tour with David Hyman, professional tour guide. After being closed for a year due to the COVID19 pandemic, the Christian sites and shrines in the Holy Land are gradually opening up for visitors. Join me as I visit the suggested site of the Sermon on the Mount in Galilee - The Mount of Beatitudes. In 1937 the Franciscan Custodia of the HolyLand purchased this hill that stands between Tabgha and Capernaum and overlooks the wonderful Sea of Galilee. Architect Antonio Barluzzi was commissioned to design and build a shrine that reflects the words of the Beatitudes. Barluzzi planned an octagonal Neo-Byzantine church on the hill so that each beatitude will be placed on one of the eight walls of the church. He used local black basalt intertwined with imported white marble. The design of the mosaic floor uses Byzantine motifs and in each section, one of the heavenly virtues of man appears. Eye-level windows are all around the walls so the worshippers can see the lake views from within.

Yes, the Jordan river starts at Banias springs, then via Sea of Galilee and ends at Dead Sea
