Great information in this video. They do in fact sell brackets for this exact scenario. Type in "recessed light bracket" choose the size of the light and youre good to go!

I checked into those brackets based on your comment and they will certainly work but seem to be more for when you are finishing the ceiling with drywall. I think my method is far cheaper for an unfinished area. Glad you liked the solution I came up with.

Those solutions are also many times more expensive than the solution laid out in the video.
