We wanted to be able to get some sightseeing in while we were there so we started with Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park.
The drive is absolutely breathtaking. It is a must do if you are up that way.
There is not an admission fee for Mount Rushmore, only a parking fee of $10 which you pay after you are parked. You can pay it at any time as long as you do it before you leave so you can have your paid ticket to get out of the parking lot.
Most National Parks are NOT dog friendly and you're not supposed to take dogs into the monument area. There is a fairly large area for by the parking garage to let your pups walk around.
Lawrence and I took turns walking through the monument area. You can see that video in 360.
After our tour through the monument we drove through Custer State Parks. There are several tunnels to drive through that are pretty tight. Make sure to check the height and width of them before going through.
Admission into Custer Park is $20 per car for a 7 day pass.
We encountered several Bison and some Antelope. It was a great experience.
