Great job! I’ve been there twice and it is my favorite place on earth. The view coming over the crest at the top takes your breath away.

Thank you for making this!Sadly,I couldn't make it to 2 of the visitor centers a few weeks ago and only got to see glimpses of Mount St.Hellens. I didn't have a permit to hike up to the top anyway. I did get some epic views of it from my hike on Mount Rainier (Paradise area)the next day and during my flights to and from Seattle. I can't wait to spend a few days around Mount St.Hellens and get a better feel for it and to soak in the beauty and solitude around the area.

I hiked it to the rim on July 8th. Shouldn't have done the hike because the metal and screws in my left hip from wrecking my motorcycle two years earlier was almost debilitating. I wouldn't recommend this hike for anyone with similar physical limitations, i.e. full range of motion in only one leg. My 77 year age didn't help matters either, but at least I accomplished the climb. Coming down over the smaller upper boulder piles was worse than going up.

We went just yesterday, extremely hard hike but worth the view. Looks like you guys also hiked in the sun. The sun can be horrible when hiking through multiple patches of boulders and gravel/ash! Definitely worth the trip though.

Hello, I planung to hike in 2024 July to the Mt. St. Helens summit. Which route did you use? Where did you park your vehicle? And so forth. Thanks a lot. Best regards.

Hi there! I’m not sure if the trails name but we parked at climbers bivouac. You just drive up towards the mountain and it ends at an easy to find parking lot. You can’t miss the trail! Some people can also camp up there by the parking lot. I suggest starting early, bringing lots of water and sunscreen!

There is a little camping site around the ~1 to ~1.5 mile mark in the trees. Its a big open area and looks like people have used it before

I’m pretty sure it’s called Ptarmigan trail. It’s the summer route. It’s SUPER easy to find. I think alltrails says it’s 8.2 miles and 4500ish feet elevation

Even though this video is a year-old I wanted to point out that the object that is called a "weather station " is actually a seismic monitoring station. It does not monitor weather. :)

@@mollyweeks5438 Thanks! I am slated to climb with a group on Sunday. I think the biggest worry for me is the boulder field. Is it constant on all fours for hours at a time or is there some intermittent walking in between?
@mollyweeks5438
@mollyweeks5438 3 жыл бұрын
@@rdnugent1 no, there are some paths you walk between rocks, rocks that look like steps and then sometimes climbing over them! I would recommend having gloves but they aren’t required, just easier on your hands and trekking poles helped a ton in the ash! You’ll be fine, just take it slow! We started at sunrise to give ourselves enough time .. also, sometimes the route is hard to find so just keep following the white wooden posts they’ve placed amongst the rocks! It’s easy to get off route
