Riding this in the morning for the first time. Like you, Im riding solo. I'm a solid intermediate rider. Any last minute advice? Kinda anxious after your video if I'm being honest.

This was 6 or 7 years ago when I filmed this ride. At the time the trail was in pretty rough shape and didn’t see a lot of use. I’ve heard from some others over the years that it’s still not maintained. If it’s how it was when I rode it a long time ago, just be cautions, since it gets pretty remote and you’ll more than likely be the only one on the trail. Once you get down to the canyon, it dumps you out at a dried up river bed. For me, the trail briefly became a little hard to find again here. MTB Project or TrailForks is good to have just in case it’s not easy to find! Looking back on it now, it’s not a super hard trail, it’s just a little sketchy since it’s not maintained and there’s no one else out there with you. Stay safe and hope you have a good ride! PS- Bring sleeves! I remember the beginning being pretty overgrown!

That is a great trail. Not for a beginner as the trail really does run on the side of the mountain. Plenty of sketchy locations. It is difficult to tell how much the edge drops off when the vegetation is taller. I rode it alone a couple years ago and probably best to take plenty of water and a friend or two. When I went it was over 90 as well. Went through water fast. It is a lot of fun and when you are out there alone it is surreal. Agree, great cardio. Good stuff.

Altadena is a great place to live! Far enough to feel country but close enough to be city.

100%, I always say I would love to live there, with the mountains being right there and not being too far out!

It seems like most trails in or near LA are super difficult. Are there any good areas for a beginner?
@MorganBishopp5 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is I feel like there are two types of trails you get out here. trails that require a lot of leg power going up a mountain and then others that are not as strenuous, but are more technical. One of my favorite trails I did when I was starting was the trail to Brown Mountain Dam (not up the mountain, but the canyon). It has a few rocky spots, but nothing crazy at all and most importantly, it's a fun ride coming back! Victory Trailhead is another one I used to do. The trails go on for miles, but you're just in the hills, so you're not having to climb up a mountain.

I ride that area all the time, but my go to trail is El Prieto. I've been meaning to try the Ken Burton loop one of these days. Anyway, nice video maybe I'll see you up on the trail!

I actually haven't done El Prieto, but it's been on my list to do! Love riding over there!

Hey, I notice your bars are rolled rather far backward, or maybe it’s just the camera that makes them look like this but even so why not try adjusting your bar roll and see what position feels best for you, it could make a big difference.👍🤘

Tom Black I have mine set to about 2 degrees back, just so I can get easily get over my back tire on the downhill. Makes me feel a little more secure!

I heard there’s a page on FB where people a lot of people meet and go out on rides. I don’t have fb and i ride alone too, cuz i don’t know anyone with a real Mountain Bike. It’s dangerous to be out there alone so i have prep myself even with Bear spray, just incase...

Hi Morgan, First of all, you are such a babe. I saw this video a couple months ago and I did this trail today. Got lost at the river bed at the bottom and after hiking around we finally found the red marker on the left of the canyon. We first ended up at the top of the waterfall. Please be careful riding alone, and if you need a riding partner, please hit me up. Jay Nilsson
@MorganBishopp4 жыл бұрын
Aw, thank you! It’s a journey isn’t it?! Lol, it took me awhile to find the trail at the riverbed too and luckily there was another biker that came through that knew where he was going.

Oh yeah! Especially going that far into the mountains. I don't leave without everything, haha. It's crazy how many people I've ran across that I've helped there who didn't have a pump and got a flat!
