I live about a 5 minute ride away from the trailhead at Peoria/7th Av. Ride this trail a lot, especially fall thru spring. It is a great ride. A nice thing about the trail is that in several places you can make it a more or less challenging ride depending on your line. The trail gets really busy on weekends because it is a great MTB trail in the center of Phoenix. You have to pay attention.

Hey man, I’m moving to Phoenix soon and want to start riding trails around there. Price aside, would you recommend a hardtail or FS for a beginner in that area/terrain? Thanks!
@JPDC6243 жыл бұрын
Hi Connor! I would say get a hardtail because you get a better bike for the money. Going full suspension will work against you until you get decent parts on the bike which means you’re spending upwards of 2000 bucks. A Trek Marlin six or seven is a great way to start and when you eventually buy a full squish bike, you won’t get rid of a hardtail, believe me. When you get here, look on Offer Up or check the local shops for a used Marlin and save some $$$. The frames are nice and you can upgrade. I upgraded my 2019 Marlin 7 to the NX Eagle kit, 1x12 and love it.

@@JPDC624 thanks for the reply! if you could spend $2,000+ would you get a FS?
@connorhinchliffe66593 жыл бұрын
@@JPDC624 I came into some new funds so I have a ~2,000 budget which keeps me right in the grey area of HT/FS. I’m basically torn between a used 19/20 stump jumper or a new Nukeproof Scout HT

All depends on your personal preference. I personally like a hard tail. It makes me feel more connected to the trails surfaces. I’ve had a FS and didn’t like it as much. I currently have an almost mint 2011 Trek X-Cal and love it! Ive just done routine maintenance over the years and never had an issue. Plus classic pearl white with black and blue graphics stands out in todays market. 😊✌🏻

If you take Peoria Ave east from I-17 to the end where it meets 7th Ave you just make a left at the police station. Or if going north on 7th Street, about 1/4 mile south of Thunderbird Road, on the west side of the street is a Visitor's Center. You can jump on there, too
