the older I get the more I think this is just the best music there is.

That's because it's the original music that has been around since the beginning of America. This kind of music was the first to play on the radio when it came out.

Folks in general don't have a clue how hard it is to play that precise.

I have a clue, only because I took guitar class for 3 years in high school. The first year wasn't even really playing, just learning about it and the notes. It's very very very very very very very very difficult to play a guitar right let alone a banjo or a violin. I had classmates who had cool instruments, a banjo, violin, cello, electric violin, electric cello, ect. I got to try them, nothing I can do 😅 and I can play metallica riffs just fine

I'm 54, been playing guitar since I was 13. Listened to rock and blues mostly. last decade or so I've been getting into old time music mostly acoustic blues, and really trying to learn the old country finger picking styles. ..then stumbled across the Foggy Mountain boys clips. I bought a banjo 2 weeks ago.. This the best music ever, I swear!!! How did I miss this. Think it was the beverly hill billys and deliverance when i was a kid back in the 70s that turned me off. I gotta lot of catching up to do....

Every time I hear this classic Bluegrass tune, I am inspired by its harmonic and melodic beauty. This song is like wine, the older it gets, the better it is. I normally don't care to sing, but I am very happy to when I hear this song because it lifts my spirits. Even though the Foggy Mountain Boys are in heaven, we can appreciate their contributions to the preservation and encouragement of Bluegrass music. Rest in peace gentlemen, thanks for your great performances.

Uncle Josh’s delivery is just sublime. It just makes you realize how derivative Dave Matthews and John Mayer and a lot of these people are (and that’s not a knock against them, just an homage). Love the Foggy Mountain Boys!

Oh the preacher rode by with his head heisted high, said that his wife had the flu. He said that ourt, to give him a quart, of that good ole' mountain dew. My dear Aunt June, bought some brand new perfume, said it had such a sweet mellow tune. But to her surprise, when she had it ana-lyzed, wasn't nothin' but good ole' mountain dew. Now Mr. Roosevelt told 'em just how he felt, when he heard that the dry-law'd come through. If your likker ain't red, it'll swell up your head better stick to that good ole' mountain dew. My Uncle Bill's got a still on the hill, where he runs off a gallon or two The buzzards in the sky get so drunk they can't fly, from smellin' that good ole' mountain dew.

Bluegrass was invented by professional musicians in the late 1930's, then later became folk music. For contrast, listen to original Carter family (who still run the Carter Family Fold stage), Uncle Dave Macon, etc.
