This is a pretty nice video. I would suggest for you to invest in some ramekins or small bowls so you can separate all of your ingredients so you don't have to awkwardly scoop them out of a pan. I kinda want to try this.

It sounds like we could avoid most of the ingredients and the ones that add flavor would be the sugar, orange juice, and water, but I wonder what the other ingredients do to change the flavor. It seems we are much better off without all of the other ingredients. Doesn't citric acid make it sour? It seems we could just use lemons instead.

I wonder what ingredients are causing what flavor changes, because we definitely don't need all of these ingredients. Maybe trying the ingredients by themselves could yield better answers. I really enjoy code red and wanted to find a recipe for making a more "healthier" version, but I might just stick to making fruit juices. everyone’s complaining about the price of the ingredients so i googled each item and found the smallest quantity of each, and added everything together. this homemade mountain dew costs about 65 dollars to make

well done, but with that 65 Dollars you can make upto 3 Gallon of Syrup.

And the 3 gallons of syrup made from that 65$ would make around 380 glasses of Mt Dew (at 2 tbsp per glass). For 380 cans of Mt Dew from the store, the price would be (at least) $140, so more than twice as much. And with homemade, you can change the recipe to remove caffeine or reduce sugar (for examples) to your tastes.
