Cheers very much, I'm lucky that I have used most of the products in one form or another so can talk about things with some authority Although that doesn't mean I wouldn't want a new Lhoste jacket to test *ahem if the MD is watching. Tom

Would you recommend sizing up especially if you want to wear a baselayer and a chunky fleece or a synthetic jacket underneath for warmth due to the alpine fit.

Great points. Well done.

How would this jacket work for skiing? Also, would a skiing helmet fit under the hood? Cheers!

Would you recommend this for hikes with backpacks in summer raining weather? I heard the breathability is worse than the Mammut Nordwand Advanced.
@unclebob8419 Жыл бұрын
It has pit zips. You don't need to worry about how breathable the jacket is with those.

No there terrible in the summer you’ll be drenched with sweat , gore tex doesn’t transport perspiration it’s a myth spread by gore in America 🇺🇸 and the outdoor industry , carry spare clothing in summer change into it when you reach camp or your car

Rab latok extreme or ME lhotse? What would you recommend? Your opinion would be very helpful.

What a dilemma! To be honest I haven't tried on the latest Latok Extreme, but have seen it in the flesh. They are both great brands and jackets, but I guess I am biased as I own a Lhotse and find the fit, burly fabric and pocket combination really works for me, so I would recommend going and trying both on if you can. My Mountain Rescue issued waterproof jacket is also Mountain Equipment and is bombproof so I have faith in their Goretex products! Thanks, Tom

@@CotswoldOutdoor Have had both jackets..Older verison of the Lhotse and the new verison of the Rab Latok extreme. Think the Ihotse still is the better jacket but it's close . ME alittle more tight with layering then the Rab, pockets for alround use better on the MQ and the zippers. That say both are excellent jackets and maybe after more use with the Rab and see it's long term durablity I could give better review.

Thanks for this. Do you have a view on paramo clothing as an alternative to layering up with a goretex shell?
@CotswoldOutdoor Жыл бұрын
Hi Imran, you're hitting on a controversial topic here! Technically (and in real life too for lots of people I've spoken to) Paramo's Nikwax Analogy fabric is not waterproof, but is treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) coating to improve it's water resistance. Now, at some point, this is going to lose the battle against water ingress from driving rain, but the fabric has it's fans too. They cite breathability and warmth as plus points, but as someone who (normally) moves fast and needs a waterproof layer that they can rely on to stay safe (moisture conducts heat away from the body 23 times faster than air) then I know what I'll be wearing in wet conditions. I was climbing on the Ben last weekend and Goretex was working all day! Right, hopefully that explanation helps without me getting sued! Cheers, Tom

Does this jacket have pit zips?
@SniffBackBetter Жыл бұрын
Yeah it does. That's a feature I also looked out for in a waterproof jacket.
@CotswoldOutdoor Жыл бұрын
Yes it does, and they are laminated coil so lower profile to the zips you see for pockets etc., great for under arms and with rucksack straps! Great question! Tom

Will it fit a fat man? Not huge still active but chubby.

It's a no, that's why they didn't answer you. It's a slim cut in the waist so that climbers can use it with their harness and still be able to see down, they don't want any excess material in the way blocking their vision.
