A: Do not turn and run from a big cat. This activates their prey drive. All you become to them at this point is relatively slow moving dinner. You are NEVER going to be able to outrun one. Even if it is a good distance away, you will not likely make it more than 100 feet before it catches you. B: They usually have the balls to come after you in three particular situations. It's extremely hungry, it's young and does not know better than to avoid humans, or it's rabid. C: There is one more case. If you see mountain lion cubs, locate the mother asap, make no fast movements, and do not turn your back on the mother.

They are full of crap that no one has been attacked in 20 years. I’ve seen numerous videos on KZbin and the news across the states. Yeah, they sure do lie about these attacks! Bears are attacking humans in greater numbers, Mt Lions are attacking, AND so are sharks! I believe its because these animals are becoming TOO plentiful and THEY are coming into OUR habitat looking for food because there are SO MANY bears and mt lions NOW! We are NOT invading "their" territory, it is OUR territory too! Human take dominion, WE need to do something like thin them out or rehome them!

@@justanotherday3969 We are in Connecticut Lots of farm land We have them here., 3 we’re killed by cars in 1-1/2 wk Yet it was put in the papers that it was the same mountain lion and also said a human must have owned it and it got loose. Unbelievable! On the flip side we have Bob cats in all colors and are the same size as a small to medium mountain lion. Those are being filmed daily in all surrounding towns along with black bears. Again way over populated. They are all considered protected. It’s scary now a days just to be in your yard. As I said, if DEP doesn’t acknowledge them ., then they don’t exist! They introduced 12 into Albany New York I think in 2004-2005 to control the deer. We’re lucky to see ONE deer now per year. We use to see herds, now there’s none. This is one of my fears when I hike! When my American Pitbull Terrier was younger we’d stay in the mountains, I love the outdoors! But I also carried a 10mm strapped on my vest, and a 380. in my back pocket! Most I ever ran into was a bobcat, I’ve had coworkers laugh at me cuz I can’t explain the sound it made, I expected a car sound but it yelled at me! Luckily I didn’t have my dog so I grabbed my 380 and slowly backed away. Luckily I slowly backed away and the cat didn’t attack me! This thing was bigger than I thought! Had a spike of fur on its head and yelled at me with a shrieking noise! Lol I admit I was scared!

I have a different take on it. If the cat wanted to kill the kid, it easily could've done so where it found him. That wasn't an attack. Instead, the cat saw a little kid unattended by a parent, and tried to return the kid to the safety of its parents, by dragging him 50 yards to the front of the kid's house, so that the parents would find him there. And how did the parent reward the cat?

We both stood there looking at each other for a bit and then he scaled the rock face that was hemming both of us in on one side and moved on. There was no way out for me and I’m firmly convinced had he so decided I would have been dinner. He was that powerful. As humans move deeper into the wild, close contact with cougars is increasing. Where I live in N Idaho, there are still plenty of wild areas so that cougars only come in contact with humans when their habitat is disturbed by logging. Then they have to go looking for another area to hunt, eventually finding one that is not inhabited by humans. I've had 3 male cats taken for food by cougars in this situation. The cougars were seen briefly and then left the area.

It's good the kid is okay, but it is OUTRAGEOUS that the juvenile mountain lion was shot dead by so-called "wildlife authorities!" What they should have done is shot the mountain lion with a TEMPORARY anesthetic, and then move the lion to territory that is appropriate for mountain lions, and away from people. You mean, "wildlife authorities" do not have vets in their midst, or are not trained to deal with situations like this in more productive ways???? No wonder the planet is in so much trouble, when institutions who call themselves "wildlife authorities" are grossly incompetent, and go around decimating wildlife. Short-sighted criminals!

@@rowdyhoundsman It is outrageous that you think it's okay for human beings to take up so much space that wildlife doesn't have much where to go. When you live in places where encounters with wildlife are a possibility, you exercise caution, put up fences, etc. The mother should have kept an eye on her kid, instead of leaving him alone and unprotected. Because the mother was not doing her job, a young mountain lion lost his/her life. Funny also how when human beings torture and harm animals, they, in contrast, don't get euthanized. It's YOU, who is appalling!
@rowdyhoundsman2 жыл бұрын
Your disregard for human safety is saddening. All of this would most likely have been prevented if the ban on lion hunting hadn’t been implemented. In every state with a hound hunting season the amount of attacks are a fraction of the amount that have occurred in California. They could probably be all added together and they still wouldn’t amount to the number that have occurred in California. It has nothing to do with where humans live. If the lions have no reason to fear humans, humans are prey. It’s that simple.

Good the boy was saved but the officer did NOT have to kill the lion! The lion was only doing what is naturally does. They should have captured the lion and released it elsewhere or bring it to a sanctuary!

Although it breaks my heart the lion was put down, if it tastes human blood it will attack again.

@Phantom Freeze That would be the loving thing to do for the alligators. But it doesn't take away the courage of the man who let the zookeeper get away.
