@GoBlue5769662 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as a perfect distance from a mountain lion. Did you not see how quickly it covered that ground to get the buck/doe? That was through cover and these guys were standing in the open. The cat was NOT comfortable with these people being here at all. It was focused on hunting and getting a meal. It probably had no idea they were even there until after it had killed it's prey.

@@RobertTurner2 I will elaborate. We were actually on the Laguna Meadows trail hiking to the South Rim. We go out on Laguna Meadows and return on the Pinnacle. We had our encounter near the Colima Trail cut-off. Your video is very similar to our event. The cougar stopped in front of us about the same distance. After it slid to a stop, it stood there panting for quite a while. Then it slowly walked off the trail and circled around us through the woods. We took a few images but didn't have the composure to video like you did... It looks like the same cat, it's possible we saw the same mountain lion...

@@seven_hundred-seven_hundred I was hiking the Laguna Meadows trail in Nov 2019 and saw several deer standing alongside the trail giving me a look like they wanted my trail mix. I can see how they become easy prey. Later that day after hiking the South Rim, I came across a momma Black bear and her cub forging for food at the stables located along the Boot Canyon trail. She didn't seem at all interested in me yelling at her to get off the trail. The wildlife at Big Bend seems very accustomed to human encounters.
@bobhathaway5292 жыл бұрын
@@JoeMandell- I have seen many bears at BBNP as well. I think they are less scared of humans due to fewer in the park and the extremely harsh conditions. Just my speculation. Most wildlife there is living in very marginal conditions.

You can hear the deer getting overtaken and killed at 1:11, nature can be cruel, but it's all something that has been going on for far longer than we have been here. The Mountain Lion lives another week or two, the deer just had a bad day. Great video, next time, try to be less talkative, the lion is hunting for survival, you are just out walking and your conversation could have spooked the deer or deterred the hunt. @@michaelmoore7163 mountain lions ain't like bears, plenty of incidents of mountain lions attacking multiple people. The danger with mountain lions isn't that its going to overpower you the danger is when you don't see the mountain lion until its got you by the neck. 2 guys hiking got attacked by a 100 lb mountain lion, it grabbed one by the neck the 2nd one ran so it let go of the first guy and chased down the 2nd guy who got eaten and first guy ran away. Was another incident here in cali where lady got bit on the neck really bad but her friends fought it off however when the helicopter got there they could see it maybe 20 feet away from the group of hikers and search and rescue officers and all of them couldn't scare it off, like a literal helicopter flying low wouldn't make it leave its food. And ya man I thought the exact same thing, just imagine it went for the hikers instead, they definitely weren't all turning around and running away before it got there.
