I can't wait for this stagnant high pressure sitting off the west coast to break up. Southern mountains of Utah are bone dry since the last major snow and rain received in November. Let's see what February has to offer. Checking back in another few days, thanks for the update.

We need a ton of snow in Banff/LL! I have a spring trip coming up and want conditions to be amazing!

That's my favorite spot on earth, been there every March for over a decade. Unfortunately, it's shaping up to be an awful year.

Thanks for the update, Chris! What are you seeing up in the long range forecast? It looks like this persistent ridge on the west coast isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
@gordongoodwin627912 күн бұрын
All the other forecasts are saying we are stuck high and dry through at least the end of January.

What made you drop your forecast totals way down besides the models? It seemed like a ot of storms have typically out performed the models recently but I do get it is a pattern shift

@gordongoodwin627912 күн бұрын
@samschoenfeld4174 the models *are* the forecast. And they are showing shit. I'm Wasatch located too. We got lucky for some outperforming days, but overall forecasts across the board for Wasatch are dry through the end of January. I see a few models calling for *maybe* a few inches the 25-28, but even that's iffy.

This persistent ridge in the west has been awful for us in SwCO this winter. Its depressing. I don't have a lot of faith that it's going to break down anytime soon either.

Agreement from Durango.
@gordongoodwin627912 күн бұрын
It's same for UT. This is an abysmal year and it ain't getting better anytime soon. All the models are showing absolutely nothing even through the end of January!
@mtnjeeps542212 күн бұрын
Agree in Durango but I do not like snow so I am glad but if we don’t get some storms this winter then we are in trouble with potential fires in the summer. I love living here but snow is not my friend.
@tcarroll395412 күн бұрын
@@mtnjeeps5422 I agree because I'm an old guy but feel the same as you about having enough water and moisture. And I enjoy it when the skiers and snowboarders and rafters have fun.

Will be BC’s worst January in a long time
@gordongoodwin627912 күн бұрын
Same for parts of UT. My local mtn averages 70in, we have 18 so far and are headed for zero new snow through the end of January outside of a few chances for 2-4 inches

Here north of Silverthorne we've had about 5" of snow since the end of November! Basically nothing in Dec and only a dusting in Jan so far. Good thing we got a good dump in November.
