Well, the important lesson from the video above is resource management, carefully allocated tools because the initial stock is limited, so blacksmithing is mandatory before other workshops. The kitchen is also important for processing food ingredients including mushrooms and fungolem meat. So the basics are farms + sawmill + carpentry + blacksmith (for charcoal you need 32 logs) + masonry and kitchen you have to prepare first. After that, make a fishing rod to catch fish so that the dwarves don't starve let alone die.

I used to follow this on Steam when it was called King under the Mountain. In fact, I followed TWO games that were both called King under the Mountain, and neither one exists anymore.

I bought this a while ago while it was still King under the Mountain. I stopped playing because there are no Z levels, and the Devs said that it's not going to happen. You run out of room to build pretty quickly :(

Just to clarify, its not just "graphics". The interface got a huge overhaul, with mouse support so you don't need to memorize 2000 keyboard shortcuts.

It is. It's just been renamed/rebrand Apparently the dev regained control of it from a publisher that cancled the contract or something. Splattercat explains it a bit more

I try and watch these so I can learn about the games, as Nookrium seems to get them early. But it's frustrating when he spends so long on such simple concepts as knowing where to click, and he constantly dies in his games.

Can these games stop trying to exactly replicate Rimworld's visual style? They have the cell-shading, the potato people, the way-to-large resources. Ugh, I'm getting tired of it.

Well, like Minecraft created a whole genre, so has Rimworld. E.g. Clanfolk seems to be pretty decent rimworld "clone".

You never played story driven rpgs in the 80's-90's did you? Cos that's what Rimworld reminded me of when I first saw it, have a look into Settlers 1 & 2 to see what I mean.

I know what you're trying to say but this will never end. When something is successfull, people copy and paste it. There are a ton of example I can give you but one of things I remember was with Zelda 1 on the NES. It was such a success that other developers tried to recreate it. All those ''recreations'' eventually became their own franchises. Final Fantasy is another one. Fortnite stole the Battle Royale concept from games before it like DayZ while that game *It was more of a mod from Arma* stole it from another game. Fortnite however was so succesful that it spawned a TON of battle royale games because at the time game studios thought that it was what the players wanted to play...and guess what, players said the same thing you say now about this. *Another battle royale game!?* It's human nature to steal concepts so be prepared to get Rimworld 2300 the four-thousand different game titles editions.
