MOUNTAINGATE

Oh, Mountaingate. One mile of double digit incline fun. It's no wonder why former pro cyclist Phil Gaimon used this road for his Everesting record last year. It's mind-boggling to think he went up and down this over 60 times! In this video, we do it once haha. I would always see this road coming from Mulholland or the Valley since it's right off Sepulveda, next to the 405 - it looks like an escalator of concrete from that angle! And each time I imagined how tough it would be to climb it until one day I just decided to do it, and wouldn't ya know, I made it up and now it's another local climb for me. Cycling is full of life lessons!

So far I've only gone down mountaingate. Gonna try and keep it like that. Someone told me the area dump used to be up there in the 60s
