One thing that tends to be absent in guides like this is if the world you are creating is a fantasy world it doesn't have to be limited to vulcanism and tectonics for mountain formation. Magical events, battles between gargantuan beings or gods, etc., can all form odd mountain formations.

Technically plate tectonics are also a process of volcanism.

So my issue with doing it this way is that those mountains are like 250 miles wide, and nearly as tall. I really wish ya'll had a world map sized top down mountain range stamp. Ones drawn with the path tool just end up looking like weird rivers.

How do I texture the sand to make it look like actual sand/desert, rather than just the color? EDIT: Found it! The search toolbar is very useful.

There should be a dozen different textures that have sand dunes or you can use actual dune stamps. That's up to you.
