Mounting a Mustang radiator and 32 Grill on the Third Wave Roadster.

In this video I mount a “Mustang” radiator on my model A roadster pick up, and cut down a Brookville 32 shell to fit.
The radiator is part number CU130 used on 63-66 Ford Falcons, Rancheros, and Mustangs

Hi Lee and Shannon , Happy July Long Weekend ! Fun project with great results . Though a bunch last week about the "2nd wave " of hot rodding . Pastel colored paint , the monochromatic look (painted bumpers ) , those modern type molded mirrors and even more I done want to remember . Then came along the Shifters and Burbank Choppers to the rescue . Rod and Custom magazine was being made again on a every 2 months basis then it went monthly again . Don't forget Rodder's Journal , ( open magazine look for Lance Sorchik drawing and say yes , this is normal in my little world ! ) Thanks for another viewing of the roadster pickup , and have a great week .

Happy July weekend to you as well. Hot rodding was definitely going through a dark time before the second wave took over. I grew up around cars, and before the traditional hot rod revival of the late 90’s I never paid any attention to street rods. The boydster styling, the pepto bismol pink, all the tweed… did not appeal to me at all and I had no interest.

It’s a great rad. They’re like $300 new. Just watch the lower rad outlet, on the 6 cylinder radiators they come out on the opposite side

Make sure you mount your radiator on compression springs for your final fit to eliminate splitting the tanks due to chassis flexing,looks great,interested in seeing the headlights and bar feature!

I’m not sure if the springs will work with the studs. They normally go on top. That being said, I’ve never had an issue before with chassis flex causing issues. Hopefully this one will be the same case. I think with the frame rails being fully boxed helps, along with no longer having to drive on dirt roads and goat trails. I have a couple options for headlights. Some BLC’s some king bees, and the last swap meet I picked up some 36 Ford headlight buckets.

Thanks Don. We were just talking about Shannon’s engine swap yesterday. I was tempted to start on it yesterday but we decided to wait until after we get back from Bonneville. There is a lot of events coming up over the next month, so better to take it apart when we actually have time to work on it

I did the same in my coupe that was channeled but flipped it upside down so it fit the 32 grille better with the sides that slant. had to move the inlet and out let for a caddy any ways..

Bolting the radiator solid is not a good idea.
