Mounting an Art Projector ■ Tracing Masterpieces

How you mount an art projector depends on your workspace and the type of projector you are using. A light-weight and wireless projector will be easier to set up. There are various type of equipment that can be used.

Id like to medium project onto wall/floor for large art and on a 45 degree angle onto a drafting table for smaller projects. Suggestions? Those look like they would hold a camera but not a projector unless a small compact one.

Hello, quick question. I bought this Micro projector. It has WiFi but don't have keystone correction. So to avoid distortion - I have to manually set the grid-template and calculate each cm from the sides, right?

Thanks for the suggestions. How hard is it to get the PICO image straight on the table surface when mounting it from one of those angled selfie-stick arms? Can the projector image be adjusted for that?

Some projectors might have what is referred to as keystone correction, but mine does not have it.. I don't find it too difficult. It might depend on how finicky the selfie-stick or armature setup is that you are using. I think it is important to get some solid equipment for mounting the projector, because you don't want it slipping or falling, etc. The manfrotto arm that I use has a variable friction to it, which means that as I tighten it, the friction gradually increases, so I can move things with more subtlety when there is some friction(it isn't completely loose), then tighten it to lock things in place. If I have the selfie stick attached to it to increase the distance, then I just try to aim it the direction it needs to go and adjust the arm and make small adjustments whereever it is needed, either on the arm or the selfiestick.. If you want to be more precise, you could maybe set a square ruler down on the canvas and make the sides of the projected image line up with it, but I've never bothered being that precise with it, and just line things up with my eye.. I also make some marks in the corners of the projected image, incase I move things later or the canvas shifts or whatever reason..

I'm thinking of using the RIF6 projector to project and trace PNG files... I gave up on the over-priced Artograph light boxes. Do you think that would be a good one? I'll be able to get it for between $55 to $85 dollars. It comes with a little tripod but I think I'll need a rig like the ones you're talking about in this video. Cool glasses too!

Probably will need to use the remote for it, since it has no buttons. But I think it would work fine. I'm not sure what image features it has though.

Hallo~ I'm a retired old painter, I start thinking about painting again. I see your art project experience video as a reference, and I got the S6 mini projector bought hard. But I want to hear another experience from you. Picture material picture in some way how you use it? Do you use SD CARD or Wi-Fi? Also, the part that is difficult for beginners to use is because there is no remote control switch and NO auto. What is this problem? Please.. Thanks!

Hi, I use a micro sd card. I use my laptop to put the image files onto it, and then stick it in the projector and read the images from that. The remote has to point at the blue light on the projector for it to work.

Hi - enjoying your very informative videos. I bought an LG ph150G Cinebeam projector. It's about 1.1 lbs. Could you recommend a selfie stick that would get the extension you show and with the screw hole in the base. I'm having trouble finding one. The manfretto hardware looks really good for mounting.- I'll be using the manfretto variable friction arm with the selfie stick for elevation. Thanks!

I use the Yi selfie stick that I got with my yi action camera, but they also sell it separately. It has a nice build quality. I don't have much experience with other selfie sticks. Maybe I ought to try and find one to test out.

@@3DTwinz Just keep looking, there are so many types of selfie sticks, it can be a bit difficult to sort through them. Sometimes there are hand straps attached to the bottom that can be unscrewed. Try to look at the product photos to see if you can see the socket.

Yes, not all selfie sticks have that, so if you are buying one, you'll have to make sure it has one of those.

Probably. I would look at the "throw distance" to determine whether it can project closer to surfaces, since most projectors are designed to project from a distance. dlp is pretty common for small pocket-size projectors.

Selfie stick should be able to hold it. But you'll need a strong clamp that connects to the bottom of the stick, since the torque on it will be more when the stick is extended.

First thanks so much for the info! Your videos have helped me sooo much. I purchased the Tenker model you suggested in one of your other videos which is similar to what you use. I want to mount it on a portable workstation but not sure what setup is best? Hmm.. You'll want to find something that can clamp onto the table securely. It's complicated to explain, but if you imagine the projector being extended up above the table, it could create a lot of tension/torque on the clamp, and also if there are slight movements to the table, that would stress the clamp.. So it has to be very strong and capable of a tight hold. This is even more important for any parts that rotate or change angle like a ball head joint.. I use a Manfrotto armature with a super clamp and a camera bracket, and I can also attach a selfie stick to the end of it to extend it even further. The Manfrotto products are rock solid but they are geared towards camera studio stuff and a bit expensive. They might have some cheaper armatures though that are just as good, and you can find a selfie stick that can extend from it if it has a tripod socket.. something like this: www.amazon.com/Fugetek-FT-568-Professional-Removable-Bluetooth/dp/B00W77LAAI ..but, the most important thing is clamping it securely so that it doesn't fall or start drooping, because cheap clamps might come loose. If you find things you are interested in getting I can take a look and give my opinion on them.
