Do you wash and scotch guard the fabric before you mount it on the card?

Hello Remi. I rarely wash a small piece of work, and I never scotch guard. I'll only wash a piece if it has become grubby or distorted. I do iron it though. I lay the piece face down on a soft towel and iron the back. I only use good quality aida (DMC or Zweigart), and I find that ironing it on the reverse with a little steam will restore the finish of the fabric.
