In this video I mount 3 3'x5' mirrors in my gym. pretty easy to do with some simple tools.
Mirror: www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-B...
J-channel I used in the video is discontinued, here's another potential option from Amazon:

My vote is install them to be centered with the exercise area, not the walls/soffits themselves. But also, I probably would've installed them long side down in a 2 wide, 3 high configuration (if it's a 9ft+ ceiling like what it appears to be). That way you'd make the most of the space on the wall and get lots of mirror area for when you're using the gym. Of course, that would double the cost of mirrors, but I think it would be worth it in the end. Great video though! I've been following along the whole series and have enjoyed all of it!
@PlatoonGarage
@PlatoonGarage 3 жыл бұрын
not a bad suggestion. I'll have to see what it looks like when I get the rack delivered and set up. the rack will be going dead center of the mirrors as they are. If it doesn't work - I might pull the mirrors down and reconfigure

Thanks for the video! I just purchased the same mirrors - 2 instead of 3 - and the same type of J channel. I followed the exact same process, but there is a slight gap in between the mirrors once I have them sitting in the J channel. The gap is not even; the mirrors are flush at the top and the gap gets larger towards the bottom of the mirrors. Any ideas on the cause?
@PlatoonGarage
@PlatoonGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, everything straight on the installation? Maybe the mirror glass was cut crooked and they don't align from top to bottom. Mine fit perfect even now over 6 months later

@@PlatoonGarage maybe remove the J Track and instead level up mirrors using just those plastic clips they sell..you likely will see this a lot less than a gappy installation with a J track..just an idea.

Been following your build as we're finishing up our basement right now too (unfortunately not myself) and this is another great cost effective idea I'll be copying! Thanks for the video. I think ingot the same J channel from home depot with the center rib at the bottom of the channel. I also purchased 2 of the 3' x 5' mirrors to be placed side by side on the 72' j channel. My question is do the mirrors sit tilted back against the wall or are they flush? Also i see you didnt use any epoxy or glue on the back of the mirror, do they wobble as a result? Thank you
@PlatoonGarage
@PlatoonGarage 3 жыл бұрын
The mirrors sit ever so slightly tilted back against the wall, we're talking like 1/8" so very small amount. No epoxy needed, if I ever take them down there's no need to scrape glue/epoxy off the walls. If you mount everything correctly (and assuming your wall is straight) there is no wobble at all. 👍
@daviduriarte3399
@daviduriarte3399 Жыл бұрын
@Mitesh Did this setup work for you? The 72" J channel says it's it can only support 50LBS. 2 3' x 5' mirrors weigh in at 62LBS. All comes from Glacier Bay, you would think they'd make sizes and weights compatible.
