these are an awesome machine I used 1 for over 17 years fitting tyres and recently I had just bought one for home I can use this machine with my eyes closed and change a tire and under a minute even though they may be old these things were built to last

It's served us well for almost 30 years, and it wasn't until recently that we even though about upgrading to a rim clamp machine. Up until last year none of my immediate family had any cars with 18" or larger wheels, but now we've got 4 cars/trucks with 18" wheels.

Awesome thank you! I just subscribed, I just read through the comments and noticed many people already asked you that so sorry for the repetitiveness with that. What modifications do you have to do for this machine to do up to 20” wheels? Thanks again!
@the710experiment84 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! It's no problem getting the link really. Sometimes the links expire. For this machine it won't do more than a 16" aluminum wheel or 17" steel wheel. I've read you can modify them to do a little bit bigger wheel but it's major modifications that limit the smaller size wheels and aren't easily reversible, so I never really dug deep into what it would take to do it.

Very helpful video for using the Coats 40-40. I acquired one in good working order and hope to demount some old tires and mount new tires on older 15" steel rims in the near future. But most of my rims are not steel and it looks like it may be possible to use this machine with them if proper precautions are taken. Your video, one of the best I've found on the 40-40, will help me greatly - thanks.
@the710experiment84 Жыл бұрын
Personally I know it really does work great on 12"-16" aluminum wheels. Even without the protective sleeve it doesn't do any real damage if you're careful. I believe it will actually change 10"-17" steel wheels, but the biggest aluminum wheel you can do is 16" without modifications to the machine.
@shannonbradley9632 жыл бұрын
I am considering buying an old center post machine like this. Have you had good luck changing tires on aluminum rims without scratching or other problems? This video appeared to be very successful using the plastic gaurds . have you changed tires on like new wheels and etc with this machine? thanks!
@the710experiment842 жыл бұрын
Yes it does very well for aluminum wheels from 12" wheels up to 16" wheels, and with the plastic protectors you'll not scratch a wheel being careful. It doesn't matter if the wheel is new or used it's a great machine!

@@krashdown102 from what research I've done it says it's not a good idea to do over a 16.5 steel truck wheels without modifying the machines bead breaker arms.
