EPISODE 133
In this video we finally get the batteries installed in the boat! But first we have to build the battery locker and a heavy-duty purple heart rack to hold them. We also install a lot of sole boards, bunk-sides, and a secret locker…
There are also a few important announcements, including an open house during the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival - Saturday 10th September, 10am - 1pm, @ Port Townsend Boat Haven.

Funny... I was emotional about losing the forklift and then learn Pete is leaving. For anyone who has watched these videos from the beginning, we know how that little forklift did GREAT things and that the quirky young man who can turn his feet backwards was an integral part of this journey. "What'cha doin Pete?" will forever be in my mind. I've no idea what project drew him but I hold you to your promise Leo... we need you to catch up with him so we can all get our Pete fix. If he has a social media account about his life, I'd love a link to that as well... I also am appreciating Patrick's longevity and his ever deepening skills as a shipwright. I love his presence. His work in this episode is quite fine... he's learned from the masters around him and makes a great contribution. LOVED this episode as well. Thanks Leo... the check in is the mail... 🤪

I remember when Pete first came onto the project. He was so hesitant around the camera (for good reason), then he finally began to warm up and his personality was revealed like the layers of an onion. As each layer was pulled back I grew more fond of seeing him around the project. So sad to see him go but I’m sure he’s onto the things he feels he should be doing. Good luck Pete.

Quite strange indeed. A month or two ago I posted a quick "what happened to 'he who can't be named'?" on the Sampson Boat Co Friends Facebook page. I used his name, and the next day my question had been deleted, let alone answered. Then when the launch video was posted ~two weeks ago there was a review of many of the people who contributed, but not a word, let alone pictures, of Pe**. I don't use his name anymore because it looks like it'll be deleted. Anyway, he was a pivotal guy in the early days for sure.

Very happy to see Pete moving on, it has been our privilege to see him working in this video intensive environment. Watched you for years man. Every time I do I try to come up with words to do justice to my admiration of you and your work. In the cabinetmaker world, attributing the phrase ‘furniture grade” was about the clearest way to distinguish wood trades “Furniture grade” wood flooring comes to mind in fine European homes. But in a boat, remarkable that everything you lay your chisel to is with such accuracy and style. (I was bemused to see if you were going to hand plane the plywood though) Anyway, just thrilled with your work and your series and from a furniture guy (I was lucky to be a sample cabinetmaker at a fine 18th century reproduction house called Kittinger Furniture in Buffalo NY) it’s a thrill that you’re showing the world the worthiness even today of skilled craftsmanship in the approved tradition. A sincere thank you to Pete-no-feet, the character that seasoned the videos from the very start. When Leo asked him “What are you doing, Pete?” he was shy at first, but gradually he thawed and revealed himself to be an excellent teacher. Thank you, Pete!

Wow. First I'm getting emotional about a forklift truck, then I'm knocked sideways by the news that Pete is moving on. I never knew how emotionally invested in this project I'd become. Makes me wonder how its going to feel when she's finally back in the water - and if the day ever comes when she sails over to England and I can finally see her in the 'flesh'. I'm going to be a complete mess! Can't really imagine Tally Ho without Pete always there, but I guess we'll get used to it and the project will continue just as it has with the other hurdles Leo has encountered. All the best Pete - looking forward to keeping up with whatever you're doing. Apart from that, it was great to watch a 'normal' TH video again, with lots of stuff going on, lots of 'chisel action' (!), and even a very rare mistake (I was beginning to think they never happened!). Thanks, Leo and team for all that you do.

I have the feeling that we will still hear from Pete. This channel has been my favorite for years. The quality of the people, the professionalism, the workmanship, the materials, the engineering, the carpentry, the music and, of course, the result, is unique on KZbin. Clearly the result of much sweat, dedication, leadership, charisma and Leo's love for all those who were directly and indirectly involved in this project. My congratulations. As for the departure of Pete, another odd personality, I have the feeling that we will still hear more about it, because there is no point in dedicating part of this last video to a machine (as cute as it is) and just a few words for Pete, Leo's faithful squire and a gold standard boat builder. Pete is an inspiration to all of us youtube viewers! Much happiness and health to all!

I watch a variety of KZbin channels, time permitting and sometimes a bit more than time permitting. This is one of my favorites. I like Leo's camera work and editing style and look forward to a similar mix of verbal explanation and musical interludes when he is making videos of the sailing adventures aboard the completed boat. After finishing watching this video I need to get back to work on one of my own projects (and airplane).
