I use all 4 of these on the regular for different things leaning on each of their strengths. One R and Dji are for sure used the most. I do often struggle to get good color grades with one r. They crunch the shadows in a weird way that takes a lot of extra corrective work. I really like the workflow of the action 2 and the wide field of view.

Outstanding video. I especially like how you did the scoring. Was extremely fair and you were on point with all of your assessments. The only one I disagree with is the low light capability, I feel the Action 2 out performs the GoPro 10, however this is honestly a mute point as low light in all of them are not good due to the limits of the sensor. Also I would like to point out your great editing work! I also recently subscribed to Audiio due to your recommendation, I previously was with story blocks, but I like the selection of Audiio better. The library is not as big as Story Blocks, but I feel the quality of the music selection overall is better. Thanks for creating and happy holidays!

I've used both GP10 and Action 2. Honestly, I prefer the video (and audio) quality of the latter. The Action 2 performs faster and the bigger sensor can really make a big difference.

I like the scoring system, because it's easy to adjust for personal tastes. For example, I'm not concerned about weight or size , so I can drop the portability score and give more weight to a different characteristic. Still not sure if or when I'm going to upgrade from my GoPro Hero 5, but it's becoming more tempting every day. :)

The Action 2 has this amazing extremely wide field of view. But it will need an extra case if you want to use the front display module. The Hero 10 on the other hand can be used without a case up to 10m depth.

With the battery department I will add that GoPro got the advantage with replaceable battery. You can have extra one (or two :) fresh battery in a pocket.

I think the best is the DJI action 2, because of the price. Go pro is extremely expensive and thinks like 360º stabilisation is just available with an extra expensive lense, instead the action 2 already has it. And taking into account prices in overall action 2 wins a lot of points.

Post stabilization is superior because you get to use much more computational power to get a better result. Also the Insta360 One RS has Log profile and the software when applying stabilization will export to ProRes. That makes it the superior camera for color grading with tools like Davinci Resolve.

Thank you, MountMedia for another wonderful and informational video! Out of the 4 cameras, I find the GoPro Hero 10 the best for the all-around average user. The DJI Action 2 has too many designs flaws (biggest one is the non-replaceable lens cover), the Insta360 Go2 is too much tailored for short videos going to social media with a small internal memory and the Insta360 One R 1-Inch edition also has an overly expensive lens cover design. The GoPro Hero 10, other than the overheating and non-1-Inch sensor is, in my opinion, the best all-around action portable camera for the average user. Just my opinion. I am a traveler-type action camera user and the GoPro Hero 10, in this entire video’s collection, is the best all-around action camera for people like me. as a BMX rider snowboarder and a off-road ev scooter rider i would never pick a magnetic mount for a camera one rough landing and you will be searching for the camera if anyone is jumping straight after you it can really mess upp the camera i ended up with a GoPro just because of that but out of the box they really suck in image quality and wind noise but its fixable im confused why they dont ship them with profiles you can easily find on youtube

This is just PERFECT! GoPro 10 for me it's worth every penny! It's the best action camera for all around and any avarage user. Plus, if you want to go more "Pro" use, you have all ProTune options (ISO max, shutter speed, Sharpeness, White Balance, etc) in really well done and easy to use menus. We can't forget about super awesome stabilization using ReelSteady, which will give even better results than using native HyperSmooth stabilization. IMO, you can't go wrong because have the best of both worlds in a pretty compact camera, that fits any pocket. The only complain about GP10 is the overheating for some situations, slow development of new firmwares to fix bugs, slow support team. If they put some fast magnetic mounting system in GP11, that would be perfect....

You missed that with the One R with the latest firmware update in fall 2021, they added Quick Flowstate Stabilization in camera and it works nearly as well as the app based Flow State Stabilization. Add in that you can quickly change to a 360 mod and its like multiple cameras in one.

I see that you use the action2 in the snow. But I have seen reports of problems in cold weather. It is suppose to only be able to record in 1080p between 0 and -10 degrees, and completely shuts down below -10 degrees C. What is your experience?

Good question. A long time has passed in the meantime. If I remember correctly, there were mainly problems when I used the camera without the display module.

Hi, love your review! I am searching for a camera that can deliver a detailed image (2.7k or above) at 60fps, stabilized and with as little crop as possible meaning as wide as an FOV as possible. it must be in the size and weight range of a gopro/insta oneR. I need this for mounting to my hangglider. I used hero4 in the past and now use InstaOneR, but still unsatisfied. The main problem with the insta is the fact, that is does 60fps ONLY with a severe crop. Also activating the stabilisation in post (Insta Studio) crops a bit. But when I look at the image quality of my friends Insta OneX2 I simply could not live with it, so this isn't an option either. Any suggestions from you? PS: another must: I must be able to power the thing via USB, infinitely, so it must run with usb-power only, basicly. Actually the Hero4 ticked all those boxes, but without stabilization and with unsatisfying image quality.

Hi, the Action 2 has the widest FOV of all these cameras. But I think that neither the GoPro Hero 10 nor the Action 2 charge the battery via USB during recording. Both therefore do not offer infinite runtime.

Awesome video mate! I do have one question, do all of those action cameras still overheat in lower settings? Like 2.4k at 30fps. I hike in the forest often and I like to document my trips. I usually use my old reliable gopro 4 (2.4k, 30fps) with an external battery. Assuming there is enough energy (external battery) and memory (huge micro sd card), it never fails me and I have recorded up to 12 hours of video without it ever overheating, but I am interested in getting a new action camera. The insta 360 one R 1-inch does look promising, especially with the low light capability!

I got the Go2, was disappointed by the quality for $482 cad for the whole package. I ordered a gopro10 for $554, not that much compared to the go2. Quality is astronomically better. Now be aware that compared to GoPro or DJI, insta360 wont allow you to return your camera for a refund within the first 14days if you happen to not be satisfied after opening the box. Buy the insta360 at the risk of being trapped with it, if you dont like it.

Fantastic - very thorough and detailed assesment. Today I own the Hero 8Black, which was replaced by the Hero9 just a few months after I bought the Hero8 with all of the different cases and mounts (not applicable to be used with the Hero 9 or 10 :-( ). Not the best development and also an aspect that has made more reluctant to go for the newest versions og the GoPro. I would probably still go for the GoPro overall, but a possible gamechanger could be the one thing you do not mention - the Action 2’s ability to lock the horizon. Anamazing feature.

Excellent to compare 4 cameras. Love the 1 in sensor on the One R and low light and ability to take the 360 module. Hero 10 is the most mature esp with configuration settings, easily replicable screen. The new DJI Action 2 thought it would be the 'it' camera but it needs a case however, the magnetic system is great. Extra points to you for mentioning the large rear screen on the Hero 10 - very important to access / verify correct settings and review footage. Also, Insta360 has a lot that can break.
