It's different..players used to live and breath football, now the culture(mentality/football upbringing of a player) is different. I'm maybe doing a poor job of explaining myself lol, there was a perfect time, perfect blend of FOOTBALL(Joga Bonito), tactics, business(finance/litigation/etc) and technology. Now it's skewed towards finance primarily? Football, real football anyway(imo) has taken a back seat. Idk maybe I'm wrong.

That's what I told my friends Mourinho still the same great manager the problem its the players mentality nowadays they are more concerned about their Instagram them play football... This guys used to play injured get shit from Mourinho and they never old back. Costinha its an example but Mourinho did similar things with Vitor Baia for example. But the biggest example of all comes from your team captain... Jorge Costa, Porto captain at the time was an extension of Mourinho on the pitch that guy was obsessed and passionate about the game and the team 1-1 half time against Beleneses he was pissed because he felt his team mates are just walking on the pitch instead of play to win, Jorge Costa ask Mourinho to give him 5 minutes before get in on the dressing room Mourinho said he just heard shouting things flying around He told to himself Jorge Cost was going to kill his team mates. After a few minutes Jorge Costa open the door and said to Mourinho Now you can do your job, Mourinho just give them some instructions they went back to the pitch and guess what.... Porto won the game with 2 goals on the second half from Jorge Costa the captain a central defender the same player how was demanding to his team mates to do more went there and delivered the win for the team. Mourinho said that's a a excellent captain if you have that on your team you are always closer to win and its hard to find captains like that! Mourinho first Chelsea and Inter Milan teams are other good examples of strong and professional players.

The big difference is that Costinha though about the team and the club, and went anyway to train... Mourinho can be agressive sometimes thats true and the problem he has is always within the team and nt on the pitch. But He had a President that knows how to run a club and doenst give in to players tantrums... and everyone knew that... thats why it all worked... and people can say thats abuse, but look at Costinha, he is not hurt or feeling bad because of it, it made him better. nowadays when the players feel someone was mean to them, they make a tantrum and they are overprotected... look at pogba, no mather how good you are, if you dont train, if you are not a team player... you should be the one to leave not the trainer. mourinho did a better job than solskajer is doing. how is it possible that the entire team leaves the stadium to go home together in the bus and a player has he's rolls royce and driver to go alone? how is that a team player? what kind of message does that send?

There is no proper incentive in modern day football. You can be a pretty average player and happily live on £5k a week in a lower league with a side hobby. It used to only be the premier league players on £100k+ and it was the top of the top. You can earn a decent yearly wage playing in the 3rd/4th/5th divisions now in most countries and hold a second job. lol Why bother pushing to be the best when you can easily be better than average?
@psyclops9733 жыл бұрын
"You can earn a decent yearly wage playing in the 3rd/4th/5th divisions in most countries". You're out of your damn mind if you really think this is even remotely close to the truth. Let me guess, you're english aren't you? Because that's one of the very few countries in the entire world where that's possible. Most countries only have 1 or 2 professional leagues, 3 at best. The rest is semi pro or fully amateur clubs who will pay you flat zero. Just as an example, Italy has always been a football powerhouse but in their third tier, Serie C, a player's average income is £46k a year, before taxes. After taxing, they get around £3k a month, which for italians is just slightly above average. And since they're full time employees, Serie C players can't have a side job to complement their earnings. Now, imagine how it goes in their lower divisions or in most other countries which have much less robust football systems. Your statement is only true for England and, to a lesser extent, Germany and maybe France. For the rest of the world, in anything lower than 2nd tier there's almost no money to be made. I'll give you another example: Portugal currently has one of the strongest national teams and portuguese people breathe, eat and shit football. Yet, in the portuguese second tier, most players get somewhere between 1k and 2k a month, which is just around 30% more than the portuguese minimum wage. Anything below their 2nd tier and you'll be lucky if you get a very rare performance prize of a couple hundred bucks. And it's more or less the same in The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and basically any other country that isn't England or Germany.
@redeyeman063 жыл бұрын
@UCL-ssf_yRS04R4UgBTbeIpw Yes I am from the UK where the national average salary is around £29,000 a year so in Italy's 3rd tier division you would almost be doubling the UK average wage so my point still stands. You can earn that amount in lower tier football across the World too (Germany, France, China, USA, England, Italy, Netherlands) not just in the UK and you would still be above the national average wage just for kicking a bag of air. My original point was that there isn't enough incentive for players to become great or the best like they used to because you can earn the same as a bricklayer or receptionist playing lower level football.
@splodge59163 жыл бұрын

@@psyclops973 What you said about Portugal is true but i think you didn't gave the best examples, in countries like Italy, Netherland, Belgian and those kind of leagues they still pay them well in the lower tiers and that's the reason why you see a good amount of Portuguese play in those leagues instead of here and that's why we have so many foreein mainly from Brazil because they are cheaper than Portuguese players, is sad because like you said Portugal breathe football but in terms of money we are more like the eastern countries and that's why you still have that shit mentality in here to talk a lot about referees and mafia and to put blame in everything except in your own club and players because we need the money of champions league, or the money of europa league or to stay in primeira liga because wages are still better that to get lower in the football system.
