My mourning doves do the same thing. I sit by my window, so all I have to do is lift my arm and they fly away. They will peck and peck at all the food until it's gone in no time. Love the sound of the bluejay, too.

You have the most beautiful blue jays! I used to have them but they are all gone for some reason. Now i have hundred to crackles instead and i hate them. I don't mind avfew but when i put out any food for squirrels they can wipe out a gallon of peanuts in ½hour.
