While it might seem odd to see the Muppetters doing the muppets doing the voices and characters in Full View, Jim Henson and Frank Oz would do this on many of their talk show appearances.
I love how much Steve keeps Kermit alive throughout this. On the one hand , I get the writer coming out and saying 'the Frog had his chance' , but in a sense, the Muppets here are being presented as they are, so technically it would make sense for Kermit to cut across if they're talking about him

I don't mean this as a criticism because I love the Muppets, but it's interesting that most of the Muppeteers aren't throwing their voices when performing. Because the Muppeteers are always off-camera that's not a skill that they need to possess.
@InfamousStevieB9 жыл бұрын
Doug Glassman It's interesting to think about, but I don't think that would be the sole reason- though it might be in some cases. In videos where I've seen Jim Henson being interviewed and performing as Kermit at the same time, it seems to be moreso that he felt Kermit was his own character, and thus whether Jim could be seen moving his mouth or not, Kermit was essentially independent from him in the eyes of the audience/viewers.
@JimmyBurns9 жыл бұрын
Doug Glassman It is a common mistake to confuse them as being ventriloquists. Jim Henson was not a ventriloquist and did not try and hide the fact he was doing the voice. Same for almost all of the other puppeteers.
@jayrobson889 жыл бұрын
Doug Glassman Throwing voices is a fake term made up for movies and tv shows. That obviously isnt possible and doesnt actually mean anything.
@RossStern9 жыл бұрын

@theatrefreak259 жыл бұрын
Doug Glassman I think it lends more nuance to the performance that they don't have to filter their voices through the ventriloquism process, and can instead articulate/emote more clearly. The duality between the character and the performer is really interesting to watch.

Unfortunately the show didn't have the feel of the old Muppet Show. The old show was always humans going into their world...."the Muppet show" but when they reversed it, it lacked the charm of the original. The original had the muppets skits (Pigs in Space, skits with Swedish Chef and Beaker w/Bunsen Honeydew) and singing duets with the muppets or skits w/ celebrities. If they did it that way and that old style of the muppets... It would still be on the air

ok I am just going to quote Kermit to express how I am feeling about this...."The Muppets have always been about artistic integrity NOT cheap tricks." - Kermit the Frog. In my humble opinion Jim Henson would be rolling in his grave if he knew what had become of his creation. I am dead serious. First of all...WHAT WERE THEY THINKING when they decided to break up Kermit and Miss Piggy (easily two of Henson's most beloved characters BTW) and replace Miss Piggy with this cheap, ugly, God awful knockoff who is TRYING to be Miss Piggy and failing miserably???? While they have never officially gotten married, the love shared between Kermit and Miss Piggy has been one of the things that has made the Muppets identity so special. When they were in The Muppets movie Kermit asked Miss Piggy to stay with him. Secondly...I really hope they are not trying to create a new Muppet Show like the one this guy just described. Why not go back to what the original Muppet Show was instead of making a show behind Jimmy Kimmel where Fozzie and Miss Piggy are the only stars.
