I’ll be honest (this is ash) I started my period, had an intense work day and wasn’t 1000% All there because I was stressed lol. Left the note and the lantern at home and realized it while we were in hour 2 of traffic getting to Knotts 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Having grown up with Haunt (scary farm), it’s sad to see what it’s become. Not dogging on these influencers/youtubers, you guys are doing what brings in content and money for yourselves, but we can’t ignore that the onset of the influencer movement has very much affected so many events and attractions that used to cater to the general public. From Disneyland to haunt, upper management have switched focus from creating true quality experiences and resorted to making attractive content for social media influencers to capitalize on. Knott’s Halloween Haunt used to be legit with scares and freights. Parents feared letting their kids attend and older teens and adults flooded from all corners of the world for a chance to walk through the fog. The experience was 100% fear focused. No gimmicks, no safe zones, no interactive gadgets, and absolutely no “no-boo” necklaces. Just pure anxiety filled thrills that for years left big impressions on everyone that attended. But now, like many other theme parks and attractions, haunt became an influencer hive mind where they cater more to people with a channel and a following. Can’t even go opening weekend without laying eyes to the eyesore that is the influencer “media” carnival tent in carnevil where they are provided with free food and merch in hopes that good video content will come out of it. Haunt once had integrity and never cared about catering to anyone. They delivered the freights and never cared who you were. One day I hope true haunt makes a return. But with the rapid flood of influencer popularity, that may be but a dream.
