Yeah - The Welsh are the British, in terms of Culture and History . Whereas the English adopted the term with the rise to Power of the Tudors. Who themselves originally from Wales. English use of the term British when talking about themselves only became widespread with the widespread use of the term Welsh to describe the British (Cymric in their own language). So in essence the British became Welsh and the Anglo became British. They are still all British however as their nations are located on said island, and that can never change.

When Wales finally fell to England, then the title of Prince of Wales was used by the heir apparent of the English kings to show that Wales was subservient.)

Welsh? Yes. British? Yes. English? No. Tbf, the borders of where and what is UK, England, Britain isn't super clear to those of living across the pond. The distinction isn't taught to us. The map I looked up tells be that Wales, England, and Scotland make up Great Britain (a.k.a. the big island). Those three plus Northern Ireland make up the United Kingdom. Ireland simply encompasses the entire island of Ireland which overlaps with Northern Ireland also being part of the UK. And all of that together is considered the British Isles.
