I've had one for a week. Sounds good, and stacks a charm with other drives and boosts. Taken apart and briefly examined, the circuit seems to deviate from the BD schematics some - the (formerly?) discrete op-amp and EQ is definitely built differently on this SMD PCB. It's not robust enough to sell new for more than $80 - but it's a steal at $30. You can buy 3 for the price of one Boss, and simply carry a back-up for gigs. Nice tele, btw. :)

@@RyanLutton Welcome! Hey btw I recently got a pedal (it's been a while since I last got one) - the T-Rex Møller 2. I had been looking for an overdrive that can blend a clean signal into the dirt. I'm liking it a lot! Very nice drive and transparent too. The clean blend in the overdrive gives it a nice shiny sound. Just thought I'd share the recent new gear news lol. Not sure if you've played that one yet. Thanks again for your videos!

From demos of actual Boss Blues Drivers and various clones, they all seem to have more gain than this. What do you think ?

I have it and it is not a bluesbreaker but a boss blues driver style pedal! Not a direct clone, it has some mods on the tone stack and it is also true bypass but it is still a decent version of the BD-2

"bluesbreaker clone" is a foggy term...the '90s pedal doesn't emulate the namesake amp at all, and later BB "clones" are typically far higher gain and mid-humpy than what is/was supposedly Mayer's favorite drive pedal. Boss Blues Driver is glassy and "air-y", more transparent than a Klon (which increases the upper mids and clean-blend headroom) with complex yet pleasant high-freq breakup. It's closer to a Timmy as OD pedals go.

@@terryenglish7132 probably they used some higher output pickups, the BD is extremely touch sensitive so if you use humbuckers you can get into distortion territory pretty fast.
