Magic. Great for building new design systems with existing products that have traditionally operated with separate libraries. Big time saver.

Hi, this is a great idea and i will give it a try, moving components to another file after it is created so far has been a problem. Thank you for making this :)

Copy/pasting from one file into another is the only reason XD is still relevant

Now that Figma can move components between files (cut and paste), is this plugin redundant or is there something unique still?
@gleb_sexy2 жыл бұрын
The plugin itself isn't redundant at all and has many other uses apart from moving components between files. For this specific scenario it is gonna be slightly less useful, however the native process is not that much different from using Master (and just as complex) so you might prefer to use it if you need a more reliable solution. Why is it more reliable? Well, you can't undo the “move” of the component, and if you try to undo it, it may get disconnected from every place altogether or you would get corrupted files. With Master it would obviously never happen. I can't find the original discussion of this issue on the forum unfortunately.

I'm sure it's another great plugin from you. But, for me there are too many steps at the moment. I just can not follow :-( Sorry

Maybe the text guide with instructions would help? dominate.design/move?r=51

I agree that there are too many steps and it would be nice to just say “use this library instead and link all symbols by name” it is still better than selecting every symbol manually. Just my 2¢

This did not work for me :(

I'd be happy to help if you provide more details. What exactly didn't work? Can you share the file, screenshots, a video recording of what is not working? Feel free to email me at gleb@dominate.design

Help article: dominate.design/move?r=51 Try Master for free: dominate.design/install?r=51 UPDATE: Now Master works with Variants! You can select the whole variants set instead of one variant in it.

What if it says "no objects, that can be attached found"?

@@danielDefoe81 1. Watch from 2:46. 2. If you are sure there are instances of the selected component in the current file, this might be a bug. Send a file link, screenshots or a video recording to gleb@dominate.design

@@gleb_sexy Hm the thing is we had two diff. variant components - named the same "button / primary" with diff. variations inside (state, size). now we tried to "merge" the newer one, with the older one - so that we could publish that and get all new version within our work files. But that is not possible. Copy/Pasting variations into the old "component" will make the old one lost. A publish then wont be recognized since the old instances will link to that component which is gone for Figma - although its not. :P

@@danielDefoe81 I partially understand what you are trying to do but I don't exactly understand the problem from your message (if there is one). Some screenshots or a quick video would be very helpful so I can give you advice. I understand that you want to replace the old variant set with a new one. And Master plugin can help you do it like shown in the video.

@@gleb_sexy Yeah got you - thanks. Only thing that happens to me, when e.g. changing my input components is that after relinking to a new component the styles were copied from the old component. (good thing is that it keeps text overrides) but also copies the styles as well which is not what i want
