Hello Ladies! I came to USA 14 years ago with no healthcare training. I attended CNA school for 6 week took the State Board exams and pass and then I was able to work as a CNA. You need to have a license to work as aCNA in a longterm facility, the license is renewed every 2 years. Long story short today I am a RN . I loved being a CNA and it has made me a great Nurse. Not a depressing job at all.

I was a CNA for 8 yearsI worked home health and nursing skill facilities. 2003 I apply to work in an acute care setting hospital where they train you to be a PCT only different is the healthcare. She is basically right in the United States It is better to get your CNA or your medical assistant if you have never worked in the medical profession it gives you your basics. Also, in the USA 90% nursing schools want you to either be a CNA,medical assistant, PCT or EMT before you apply they want you to have basic training.

Not sure about 90% of companies asking for such experience. While working towards RN you have to get some hours in the clinical setting here in NY, whether or not you have experience in the titles mentioned.

It is easier now to work as RN in the US. The US immigration journey (EB3) of my son as a RN took 5 months and 3 weeks from the date he was interviewed virtually by his hospital employer up to the time he received his immigrant visa (US embassy Manila). If you are a RN, it is better to take the NCLEX and IELTS then apply to a direct hire agency like WWHSS as mentioned by Priscilla 👍

To become a CNA one also has to take a state test upon completion of the class and hands on trainings, and base on that they are able to work under that license. Not too many health care settings in the USA will hire one without a valid license.Because that valid license enable a healthcare setting to trace a person in an event of an abuse, or neglect to patients while providing cares.

Well, lifestyle in Ghana is far different from the lifestyle in the US. So you don’t expect the pay rate to be same. Living conditions in are affordable. You don’t rent a house in Ghana for $1000 or more per month. So the both countries aren’t comparable.

Certified nursing assistants where I am that are make around $23hr and still Struggle to pay their bills because cost of living and I’m in the Midwest where cost of living is considered low compared to east and west coast.

To become a nursing assistant in USA you have to train and do a state examination given by certified body.. After passing exam you are given a license to work and you are registered with the state body which allow you to work for old and people with disabilities. This license is renewed every two years with some conditions. But there is working like a caregiver where you don't need a certificate but you are just given a job like an ordinary maid.

It's amazing to remember that it was barely 5months ago I moved into the UK as a senior career. Nurses should make efforts to get to the dream they want... Make the move and God would grant the success. Can't wait for my NMC pin and also my US PIN... Maybe another interview should be scheduled so I say this other part of my story. @@lilianikeh6382 I don’t recommend it. I live in L.A. CNA’s make an average of $25 an hour but a 2 bedroom apartment is going to cost you a minimum of $3,000 a month, you’ll need a car so you’ll have a car note on a $40,000 car, groceries are expensive, etc. Try to come as an LVN or RN. i don't see it as an issue the only thing I have as a challenge is the time you have to work as a CNA. If i got her right she was like 3-4years. For the errands, bathing things, is normal. I'm not a big boy ooo so i won't feel too big to run errands. It's about your goal and that can't stop me from working towards becoming RN.

Where i will get confused is, maybe you get an offer as CNA which will take you two years to get there and still work for like 3-4 years the you got another offer sponsoring you for RN by then you will have to bare the cost of your travel to SA to take the NCLEX after which they will reimburse you if you pass and you ain't so sound financially to cover that expense! Or perhaps you can buh it's going to be a big risk meanwhile your passing ain't guaranteed. U may feel just self sponsoring everything if you pass ,u get a direct hire.lol really a tough one, coz u can reject the CNA offer and not pass the NCLEX

STOP telling these people wrong information it's 2022 and not 2010 everything in the health care industry have been changed as a RN you needs 2 and 4yrs college education with a state exam to become a Registered Nurse LPNs, PCT, CNA a PCT, HHA they are all certificates but also needs to be licensed by the states you live in To be a PCT you need the CNA EKG and Phlebotomy with state certification and lastly there are no easy tasks they all requires hard work if there is anyone in this discussion work in the US in any of these positions can tell you if you don't live in the USA Please look up details on what are the qualifications to become a nurse in the US good luck to you all remember nothing is easy 🇺🇸 🤔

Am a CNA 7yrs now.. Went to school to do my PCT but never did the state for it..However i did do my phlebotomy separately and got certified for that...The PCT indeed does the same thing just that u get a couple more dollars as a PCT but you are doing 3 jobs for a couple dls more which to me makes no sense...I have friends who works as a phlebotomist and makes more than a PCT...You just have to feel the market base to on your location... Even a LPN,if they go into the hospital they do the same things as a CNA.That's why most LPN stay in the nursing facility as opposed to the hospital...CNA work is not easy that i can tell you and it comes with alot of bad name, residents lie on you all sorts of things but if it's your passion you will persevere...I would advise anyone don't let being a CNA be your last stop aspire to be more..

Well you are totally mistaken. Nurses in ICU do not have a PCT, so they have no other choice than to be the nurse and PCT. Good Nurses clean poop, and bathe patients too. It’s nurses like you than look down on PCT/CNA and get disrespected by the PCT/CNA

The mistake we always do is convert the money into cedis and we conclude oh they’re taking more than in Ghana forgetting cost of living are different, the money they’ll earn there won’t be used in Ghana so in essence it’s still not enough. Let’s stop converting money into currencies we won’t use wherever we are because that isn’t the legal tender.. because me I’m in kuwait and if i convert my money into pounds and dollars then you’ll people are making way lesser money coz the dinar is more valuable than the pounds and dollars
