Movement training is 100% the type of training that finally grabbed me. I got into it thanks to theatre and dance since the training you do in those areas is all about allowing your body to move in different, non-conventional and unique ways. I then discovered this youtube craze about animal flow and all of that and that was the first time I actually enjoyed working out at home on my own.
@balalaika852

I find traditional workouts mind numbingly boring. Modern yoga and animal flow and seem more, like you, say, a dance, and focus on how the movement feels, so is infinitely more interesting to me.

i like how much of it just feels so much like exploring, like following curiosity, what weird thing can i think up next for my body to try? what strange way to get to other side of the room can my imagination dream up? i keep laughing at myself while im doing it and feeling surprised at my own discoveries

This has got to be the most well presented fitness page on KZbin. Could you possibly make a few more beginner level videos? Particularly when it comes to calisthenics. I understand the page is sort of geared towards higher level fitness culture, but there's just an incredible lack of this kind of high quality information in KZbin's "beginner fitness."

Hi Adam! I have dicovered your channel in the lockdown and it has had a great influence on me since. I'm 22 and i'm a PE student from Hungary. I was competeing in wrestling in highschool but i stopped going to tournaments since my university study started. Since then i had some ups and downs but this lockdown and some dietary changes got me in my best shape of my life. For this semester i tried to develop my own Batman workout routine. So in every semester i have to take classes in different sports and i included the classes into the training program cause they are quite phyisical. So this is what my week looks like: Monday: - Gymnastics training for an hour and a half in the morning, on all the 6 gym equipment (horse, rings, bar...) till the end of the semester i have to be able to preform not so basic moves on all six so these workouts mainly focuses on skills - In the afternoon a short (30min) circuit full body workout (push ups, sit ups squats ect.) and stretching Thuesday: - an hour and a half handball training in the morning, i think of it as cardio and active recovery - after the handball i go straight to the gym and do a lowerbody weighted workout and some stretching - Wednesday: - Gymnastics skills training an hour and a half in the morning - in the evening i run 4 km and do half an hour stretching Thurstday: - In the morning on A week i do calisthenics with rings and on B week upperbody weight training - in the afternoon i have an hour and a half handball training again Friday: - I run 6 kilometers in the afternoon and stretching Saturday: - Mostly rest day, Sometimes low intensity bicycle as active recovery Sunday: - I run 14+km and of course stretching So i have been doing this every week for the last 2 months and i have to say it is working. I think mostly because of stretching and all the other imput, running is so easy sometimes it feels like flying wich is a great feeling. And also i have never been this strong in my life, im 78 kg and managed to benchpress 130 kg once last week. Next week is going to be my first deload week where i will be only doing the gymnastics skills and the short run. I just wanted to share this wiht you, cause i think you will apriciate it and i wanted to let you know that you had a great impact on my life. And i also want motivate the other Bioneers. Cheers from Hungary! :)

A topic maybe a bit out of left-field for you to look into: Steadiness, and how to improve it. I'm thinking of things like carrying a completely full cup of water or bowl of soup. Aiming a gun or bow. Art and handwriting. Welding. Finely controlled movements. It seems like an aspect of "fitness" that most people could benefit from improving for their daily life. However, I have not seen many structured approaches to training this attribute.
@clevereeves1861
@clevereeves1861 2 жыл бұрын
Whoa! That’s crazy talk. You want to regress movement all the way back to steadiness?! There are monks on mountains who have yet to be able to sit still. But this is a fantastic suggestion. (… Minus the boredom of watching 10 minutes of someone sitting there trying to quiet their mind and be still)

I guy at the gym did alotta of this stuff for years. He’d crawl for about a half hour up and down the steps and do wall push ups. He stayed very toned. He is a short and squat muscular guy he could do some of this with weights once a week! He didn’t miss a beat for the 5-6 year I was around him! Worked for him!

First, JACKIE! Second, I can't hardly wait (but will gladly do so for the quality), for the 2nd ebook! The first one is amazing folks, and it will be many years before a new one, so get this one now. I'm super stoked that you've managed to pare down a list of moves (and many thanks for linking it!), since I too have noticed the many, MANY, different "methods" of movement out there. Of course, if anything, it just goes to show no particular method is better than the other, we as practitioners of fitness, simply need to find what is better for us, as an individual. Amazing upload, Adam! Excelsior!

Nice work. I've been diving into movement culture the past year or so and have come across the same influences you have. Im training both climbing and break dance which feel very similar to these types of movements, and that made me happy! Quick note thou is that ive found that the degree of injuries greatly decreases with a really long warmup before attempting any out of ordinary movements. Like atleast 30 minutes of warmup to build up body temperature and get blood to muscles and tendons. Also, i ONLY trained this way for a while and found that without gym training with isolation it is very easy to start losing a good mind muscle connection, resulting in the wrong muscles to try to help and in most cases, some form of injury. Love the channel! Found it through shredded sport science!

The scene at 4.32 where you are stalking and crawling along the leafed over tree trunk reminded me so much of Arnie in Predator, as he was clinging underneath a trunk like that as the Predator in cloak mode, crept atop the trunk just above in that final classic showdown between them both. Combining inspiring movements to enhance and embrace into training, and implanting classic scenes from my favourite movies into life and memory. All in one video. Yes. 👍🤘🤘🤘

Great video! BTW, "MovNat" is pronounced "MoovNat" since it's a shortening of the French "Movement Natural". Similarly, "Georges" is one syllable and both G's are pronounced like the Z in "azure". Nice attempt at explaining such a vast concept as 'Movement', thanks for doing so! I've gone through a very similar process and ended up pursuing the Ido Portal Method, because of the very structured approach to physical development. It's a lot more than a collection of cartwheels and animal crawls, but that's what it might look like, when you've just discovered it. Still, great that you've created such a piece of entertaining content while exposing other people to the idea of Movement.

Heya Adam ! I have another pillar of health and fitness that’s severely overlooked. Perception Training. You touched on it a little bit with the Video Games and VR video, but how about Observation and Replication - Sketching, Dessin, Drawing Art. The works of Amy Herman who speaks about looking at Art to train our power of perception and looking for details, then how to communicate those details. I think for the average John it’s severely overlooked - the power to analyse what’s in our field of view, to comprehend to see what we’re seeing at and to isolate and focus on details and not tunnel vision - things like the Basketball Ape Experiment and seeing things that are Hiding in Plain Sight - I think that would be an amazing topic to cover.

I like this documentary-like format. It's a different take that I've seen from the usual "fitness". It's kind of hard to know where to go after watching this however

I just started Coach Sommer's Gymnastic Bodies program to get better mobility, flexibility and core strength as well as decrease injuries from lifting. As I get older, age 49, I realize how important it is to do more than just traditional weight lifting. I'm definitely sore in a whole different way, but I can already tell there will be benefits.
