SURAYA PROPERTY GROUP MISMANAGEMENT At Lynx Apartments in Mbagathi, the owners and tenants are suffering due to the incompetence of the management. Owners and tenants were informed they would not pay any water or electricity bills until individual meters were installed. However, KPLC and Nairobi Water Company have disconnected their services due to unpaid bills. The electricity bill is now at 900k. From 2016 Oct, tenants were supplied with outrageous bills which were not accounted for. To add salt to injury the MPESA paybill Number they were to pay to did not belong to KPLC leaving people wondering what was going on. Attempts to reach Suraya have been futile since their representative is hardly there. This is a complex where majority of tenants are students from the neighbouring universities who do not know how to fight for their rights. Furthermore, garbage has not been collected for 3 months, not all the passenger lifts are working, and security guards have not been paid for 2 months. Infact, during Christmas, it was the tenants who held a harambee to provide the guards with something small. Tenants are now being forced to pay Ksh2700 per household (89 of them) to cater for water, electricity and garbage. Then Suraya has the audacity to say they will “pull their own weight” and pay the balance and in fact the whole bill belongs to them. These are the fruits of greed. They hurriedly and blindly opened up an incomplete building and trying to force tenants to accept liability on something that is not their fault. The tenants feel forced to pay so as to stop living like savages. The students are being exploited. They have to source water from outside which they don’t even know where its fetched, being stuck in lifts, living in their own filth, staying in darkness and more. This is exploitation of the highest order and must be investigated and addressed. Suraya should compensate the victims who are suffering because of them.
