That looked like a great spot for a nice lunch. Those clams looked rather tastey!

I'm from this neck of the woods of the South Shore and I visited the set of The Scarlett Letter twice. Unfortunately when we went there was no filming going on, but we got to explore the area and it was very cool to see a bit of the behind the scenes Hollywood magic, like rocks and walls actually made of styrofoam and the pipes hidden under brush that lit up the campfires or how in the movie the scene switches from two different locations, mid scene, but makes it seem like it was all filmed in the same place. It was a very cool experience.

RE: The Town Hall. It was never the town hall, but the old post office. It had the addition built on the water side during war time as the volume of mail coming for service members posted here was too much of a volume for the space.

We have friends in Shelburne and have visited them pretty well every other year for about 20 years, so we know quite a bit about that town. Loved seeing it from your point of view. If you like, I can add some more info and suggestions for activities there... in case you go again, or you may just want to explore and discover for yourselves. (We are Ontario folks who love visiting N.S.)

@@MichelletheIntrovert --- Okay, here we go... The large warehouse building on the waterfront didn't have the spire on top until "The Scarlet Letter". The production company added the spire and left it for the pleasure of Shelburne. The "Meeting House" and punishment stocks were built right behind that warehouse and also left for the town. The "Meeting House" is now used for the Shelburne Farmers' Market on Saturdays.

The tall building at the 5:00 minute mark was Shelburne's Post Office, until replaced by the "new" building in the mid to late 1960s. I believe there were several attempts to sell it (at an amazingly low price), but no takers. I'd love to see inside it!

The more Easterly road taking you into Shelburn has the run down Ox Bow Motel on the corner (as of a few years ago anyway). That was the motel seen in Wilby Wonderful. I think it was possibly where the main character lived. Sorry... I have not seen that movie for about 15 years! Last I knew, The First Nations had acquired the property and had plans to develop it in some way.

Virginia's Run. Yes, the horse race is partly shot along that main street, past the post office etc.

We just Lost the Washington black Movie . Unfortunately our town has to many Shit for Brains who just like to hear themselves speak. So the Producers realized it was not worth the hassle and decided to film the Movie in another location. Why our little town has seen our population decrease and businesses disappear . The Squeaky Wheel get’s the grease and unfortunately the Wheels are Morons .
